4 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU on a budget

Pros: I had this little bugger overclock to 2.59GHz with only 1.25V! This is on a budget ECS 6100SM-M motherboard. Vista Windows Experience Score shows 4.3, the same as my Athlon64 3500+ running at 2.5GHz. It runs cool to boot! This is a great bargain of a processor for web surfing, email, and other applications for typical high school/college students.

Cons: 1) Single core
2) 90nm core runs hotter/less efficient than 65nm
3) Dual core is way to go, especially with Vista or Linux

Other Thoughts: For another $30 you can get a dual core Brisbane, which in my opinion is a better deal. Unless you really can't afford that $30, go with Athlon x2 3600+.

5 out of 5 eggsOverclocks like no other

Pros: Runs fast for the price.Overclocks like no other CPU i have owned i got this CPU to 3.2ghz with 1.45v. Runs cool even when OCed when using any other HSF than stock.Temp never went above 36c even when OCed to 3.2ghz.

Cons: How can there be any with this price and can get that high of an overclock.

Other Thoughts: This thing is a overclocking beast.Price is low it runs cool.If you are wanting something to overclock and play some games on and don't want to spend more than this is what you want.I just wanted to see how high i could get this CPU.I am no longer using it because i am using a x2 4600+ for my gaming rig.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Capable

Pros: While not an ideal processor, from a perfromance standpoint, this chip is highly adequate for any non-gaming task you care for.

Cons: Not dual core.

Other Thoughts: I build my computers to last for years, not months. As I transitioned from my old Pentium III 1Ghz to AMD's AM2 platform I selected this chip due to it's low price and paired it with a nForce SLI motherboard. Once I obtained capable video cards and memory, I found the chip to still be very adequate for any task I threw at including moderate to enthusiast level gaming. The price to perfromace ratio that this chip provides is outstanding, allowing you to have a modern platfrom with headroom for future upgrades at very reasonable prices. However this chip is a budget chip and will increasingly bottleneck performance as time goes on, that's why I recommend eventually replacing it with a dual core Athlon.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for HTPC

Pros: Plenty fast enough for a dual ATSC tuner HDTV Home Theater PC running MCE 2005. Supports AMD Cool & Quiet.

Cons: Stock heatsink fan could be quieter (it's not loud, but audible).

Other Thoughts: My machine is a dedicated HTPC which does nothing more than record and play HDTV television shows, display FTA satellite, play DVD's, play DiVX/Xvid, and play MP3 music. I temporarily swapped it out for an Athlon X2 3800+ for about a month (ended up moving the X2 to my main machine later). In my HTPC, there was absolutely NO DIFFERENCE in performance for what I use my HTPC for. For a dedicated HTPC, anything more would be a waste.

5 out of 5 eggsOC Monster

Pros: Great OC abilities, granted you have a solid mobo.

Cons: Cache.

Other Thoughts: You don't want to use an aftermarket heatsink because it'll end up costing you more than the OC is worth unless you can get a free one. (For the cost of copper more, you could get a faster processor.)

5 out of 5 eggsPlenty Fast

Pros: Plenty fast for running a browser or office suite. It runs cool (~40C w/ stock cooler).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I bought this proc to build a system for my wife. I'm extremely pleased with it so far. Since she only needs the system for checking email and writing, this processor fits the bill perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Runs great, cheap, keeps pretty cool.

Cons: Not a good CPU for running muliple programs.

Other Thoughts: I seen some reviews saying this is not a great OC proc, turns out it was great. OC with no problem at all.

3 out of 5 eggsWimpy

Pros: It's cheap.

Cons: I built 2 systems, 1 using an Athlon 3500 Orleans core and the other with this processor. My biggest complaint is the heatsink lever would not move after the clips were on. The difference between this and the Orleans core Athlon is huge. Get the Athlon if you can afford it.
