4 out of 5 eggsDecent

Pros: Inexpensive, Dual-Core

Cons: not the fastest thing in the world.

Other Thoughts: This thing runs very cool. i had an old watercooled AthlonXP 3200+ system. I upgraded only the motherboard, RAM, CPU, and waterblock. This combo runs 8C cooler at max load.

This was the cheapest dual-core CPU at newegg. Good thing about the skt AM2 is skt AM3 based chips will be backwards compatible. When the new skt AM3 chips come out (assuming you can get a BIOS update) you're good to go.

Using this in builds with 2x1gb GSkill PC6400... nice combination

Cons: None so far.

5 out of 5 eggsSolid chip

Pros: Cheap! Runs very cool even with my not so great 18 dollar thermaltake cooler. Great for OC.

My gigabyte nforce4 board maxed out before the chip did. The highest I could get was 2.76ghz before my board maxed.

Cons: For the price, how could there be? Seriously, I bought a 3200+ single core a few years ago when they were pretty much top of the line, and this thing kills it for a 1/3rd the price of what I originally payed.

Other Thoughts: Get a good board if you plan to OC it past 290 FSB at a 9.5 multiplier. Which is what it stays at.

It was a little finicky if I tried lowering the multiplier any. I would suggest keeping at 9.5

The new brisbane chips have just come out, that are exactly the same but lower wattage. You might want to get those instead. But I love this chip.

5 out of 5 eggs2.82GHz easy overclock

Pros: This is my second Brisbane 3600+. First OC'd to 2.5GHz, second to 2.82GHz. Nothing fancy, just set the bus to 297 MHz x 9.5 multiplier, HT link at 1187, this is a deal. I think that the demand for the 3600+ is so high that they do not have enough slower parts, so they are taking parts that bin faster and marking them as 3600+. This is good for the consumers who want to OC, but your mileage may vary.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: XFX 590 SLI, Brisbane 3600+ @ 2.82GHz, ThermalTake Blue Orb II (to fit case design), GeiL 4x1GB 800 MHz (@ 806, 4-4-4-12), (1) Chaintech 7950GS, (2) Seagate 'Cuda ES 250GB in RAID-0, Lian-Li V600B Black Aluminum case, Enermax Black alum. usb kbd, Reaper Gaming Mouse, Acer X222W 22", Logitech X230 2.1, D-Link AirPremier DWL-G550.

5 out of 5 eggsHoewly excrement!

Pros: Its fast and cheap. I dont use all those fancy benchmarking programs. I use SETI@HOME to test the speed of my systems. This CPU averages 50% faster then my Northwood 3.2MHz system. Thats all I need to know.

Cons: That I built this system for a friend!!

Other Thoughts: For the price, you cant go wrong even though this is "old" tech.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Processor

Pros: The processor works perfectly except for the comment below. As always, Newegg was great.

Cons: After a lot of reading, it appears that the temperature sensor on the chip does not work on Brisbanes. Therefore, programs that read various sensors on your computer and report temp/ rpm will not give an accurate reading for the die temp. I was getting 40-50C with an arctic cooler pro 64. My IR thermometer was reading the processor/ heatsink base at ~30C.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat processor

Pros: i'm shocked at the price of processors currently. this is a BEAST. you will not find a better dual-core for less money. and trust me, dual-core is beyond worth it.

Cons: not single ounce of complaint

Other Thoughts: you will not be let down by this great processor. i haven't tried myself, but others have had great success OCing (upwards of 3.0ghz!)

5 out of 5 eggsWonderful.

Pros: Great little processor. Inexpensive, can handle a high workload. In a recent tech savvy processor review, this ranked highest in power for money spent. Not too many applications can use dual or quad core effectively, and gaming uses GPUs more than anything. So there's really no reason to spend more money for a little more power.

Cons: None at all. Great deal.

Other Thoughts: Go for this if you want next gen computing at last gen prices.
