Phenom is great for SMB

Pros: Tons, especially price. I can multitask better than my dual xeon evo with this custom built. I am using 64 bit ultimate and if you diable user access control nearly all the old smb apps work! I use this for help desk support and financial data calculations it is awesome. Setup is 2gb DDR800 corsair, MSI 7025 MB, Seagte sata 160gb, oem case with 450PS, X1550 512mb, and Samsung burner 20X sata. USR PCI modem for remote admin in distant areas without broadband.
Cons: First those that compare this to an Opteron well get your MCSE and understand server chips are Xeons and Opterons not this. A way to get 4 cpu in one chip with less heat on the mainboard. It gives 64 bit versus 32 bit computing. The real con is for gamers who think this will help. It is for multitasking not gaming. Save your money and go with higher GHZ. The 6400 and Wolfdale series are better for gamers. 3.0 to 3.2 GHZ versus 2.3. The stock fan is loud but it does the job.
Other Thoughts: Ensure you have plenty of cooling fans in your case. I have 2 80mm and this baby has been going non stop for a week without a hiccup. Ensure you match your board to the new B3s since there are 125w versus 95w of this one. It will save you an RMA. Many are not B3 compliant.

Strong CPU, good value

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Just to clarify something, this is a good CPU, but it's not as fast as the Q6600. The poster a few spots down claiming that it is was exaggerating pretty badly. I use a Q6600 myself and purchased this to put together a $600 tower for my wife's (non-gamer) friend.
Cons: The clock speeds leave a little to be desired, and while the price is fair I wouldn't call it a steal - however I got two free gigs of RAM in a combo deal for this. Without some kind of incentive like that I'd probably have gone for a higher-end AMD dual-core instead, or possibly a cheaper C2D.
Other Thoughts: It's nice for what it is - a somewhat weaker quad-core for a somewhat cheaper price.
