5 out of 5 eggsGood OC

Pros: I have this for more than a year. It's OC to 2.5ghz. it is stable up to a whooping 2.7ghz! using stock fan and antec silver thermal compund. however the only limiting factor is my memory. very stable with CS source, COD2.
Mobo asus a8n sli deluxe, g.skill 1gb x2 pc3200.

Cons: no really a con, but I wish for a higher multplier. Max multiplier is 9

Other Thoughts: Intel CORE solo and duo has beaten up AMD, but opteron is still a good value for its price.

5 out of 5 eggsCACJE runs cool and quiet

Pros: I got the CACJE stepping which has a good reputation. It overclocks gracefully, mine runs well at 2.52GHz. I suspect my mobo is holding it back from a higher clock. The stock HSF is surprisingly quiet even at full speed. It is a great inexpensive 'project' chip for 939 rigs.

Cons: none

3 out of 5 eggsdecent deal

Pros: very good processor for the price, quick shipping!

Cons: box came tore up pretty bad, checked out the proc, no bent pins or physical dammage, so i tried to boot it, and its still tickin, i didnt use the stock heatsink as i bought this for a bare bones system that came with a much nice copper heatsink....

Other Thoughts: nice chip, dont trust UPS!!! although the packaging was tore up pretty bad it still works, i guess it could have been packed and boxed better...

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: it's an opteron. newegg/ups got it here really quick. placed my order early yesterday morning, the item shipped from NJ that afternoon and arrived here in upstate ny today. that's quick even for newegg.

Cons: only con i see isn't much of a con and that's the aluminum heat sink. but hey at $xx you won't hear me cry about it.

Other Thoughts: get em while they're hot.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Opty

Pros: Put this little Opty in an MSI motherboard with 1Gb ram and my wife is happy with the performance.
I did o.c. the FSB to 245 with 1 to 1 ram parity at stock Voltage and stock HSF. Runs well at 32c.

Cons: Fading technology but still a great bang fot the buck.

Other Thoughts: Get one while they last

4 out of 5 eggsGreat cheap cpu

Pros: Great overclocker. Bought it to have a very cheap system, and so it is. Bought a Asus A8N sli deluxe refurbished for about 55 shipped, so got a highly overclockable system for about 130 bux. I had it running several months at 2.8 Ghz at 1.39 volts, but decided to g up and have been able to hit 2987 MHz (332 MHz). FSB 333 MHz failed to be stable though, may have to rise voltage. Temps are iddle or load 31 at 2.8 Ghz or 2.98 Ghz, so might "have" to keep pushing it.
I am using real cheapo memory (Ultra) with 3 cas timings with memory dividers. CPU-Z says the memory is running at 210 Mhz
I think got the cab1e or ccbe1 , but not sure.

Cons: not dual core, but heck, paid only 77 bux for it

Other Thoughts: Runninh single-threaded applications at 2.8 Ghz runs as fast as Intel Core 2 Duo at 1.86 GHz (E6300 stock). It doesn't seem that fast, given it is highly OCed, but it is years older than C2D.
other components are Sata II Seagate 250 Gb but OS windows XP is running on old 80 GB HDD IDE, so that is slowing it down.
For those who care, I've hit 30.296 on 1M superpi or 5min45sec on 8M
The case was also very cheap, around 30 shipped from the egg. It has three small fans. The whole rig is noisy, very noisy, but my office mates are noicer and they do less work than my rig anyways lol

5 out of 5 eggsFirst Opty

Pros: I bought this Opty to replace my wife's Athlon XP 1700+. This thing is excellent and runs cool, 26C and much faster, even at 1.8 GHz. Plan to definitley push it further than my current 2.0 GHz, once I figure out how to run Gigabyte's Easy Tune non-linear. Kept stock cooling, just added a bit of Artic Silver to aid heat transfer. Luvin the 1MB L2. Great choice if you are ona budget or need to build several machines, glad to see that newegg.com got some more in stock and kept the same low pricing.

Cons: I received one of the ones with the busted green packaging, but the CPU was in a separate pack so I cleaned everything off and no bent pins. Athlon 64's are in a better package.

Other Thoughts: Current config: Gigabyte GA-K8U-939, 512MB PC3200 RAM, Seagate 250GB PATA. I like the Gigabyte MoBo, it is very stable, but it could use more overclocking options.

Received from newegg.com in 2 days. Go newegg.com. I haven't found anyone that can beat newegg.com's price and service.

5 out of 5 eggsGotta love this processor

Pros: Overclocks very very well. Would definately recommend for anyone on a budget. I have this cpu in a t-force mb and have it running at 2.8 at 1.28 volts. STABLE. Its running even lower than stock voltage!!! I have it in an antec aria case and the temps idle at around 40 C which is acceptable. btw have seen people almost hit 3.2 on this thing. stepping was cab1E.

Cons: none at all
