Cheap quad core, good results
- Pros: Processor is working well. I overclocked this cpu to 3.5ghz so far with only a .025 volt increase on the cpu (it booted without raising the voltage, but restarted during the stability testing without the voltage increase)
- Cons: I was hoping I would get the version based on the deneb core instead of propus(since that version can have the l3 re-enabled with ACC), but unfortunatly I did not.(oh well)
- Other Thoughts: I am not using the stock heatsink that came with this cpu. I am using the stock heatsink from my old 6400+ (since it is beefier than the new stock heatsink and has a copper bottom)
Update... Still amazing
- Pros: Update from my last review... I got an aftermarket cooler (Rosewill RCX-Z5) and have further overclocked this processor to 3.2 Ghz. (I was trying to go further but my motherboard doesn't like it when I go any higher). The processor is idling at 29 degrees! Sometimes it dips as low as 27 but it consistently stays at 29 :)
- Cons: Lack of L3 Cache I guess... but read my other thoughts.
- Other Thoughts: I was reading an article on Tom's Hardware that tested how the lack of L3 cache in the Athlon II X4 affected performance when compared to a Phenom II X4. It showed that overall, an Athlon II X4 at the same clock speed as a Phenom II X4 will give you about 95% of the performance of the Phenom. Impressive. This processor was effortlessly overclocked to 3.2 Ghz, so hypothetically I am getting 95% performance of the 3.2 Ghz Phenom II 955 for about 65% of the price... I am happy with that ;)

It's Nearly Phenominal
- Pros: Great Performance - rivals Phenom and other Quad Core Processors
Low Cost Low(er) power 95W is quite good Great for a light server config - Hyper-V, file server, etc.
- Cons: Not a gaming powerhouse
- Other Thoughts: I use this CPU to power a server that is primarily used for VMs (Using Windows Server 2008 R2 and Hyper-V). It is fantastic for running *multiple* virtual machines with great performance. The bottleneck is still the hard drive (WD Caviar Black) and not the CPU. I'm very impressed and the cost is well worth it!
Value Quad Core
- Pros: Great value. Powerful processor even without L3 cache.
- Cons: None.
Speedster
- Pros: Speedster CPU. Runs rings around my old rig. Stable enough running at 3.15 .
- Cons: Can't see the core CPU temps even with AMD OD sw.
Speedfan seems to be the only one that can show some sort of temp changes. I'm guessing it's a mobo Bios issue.
