5 out of 5 eggsGood little processor

Pros: Is sufficient for most tasks, was always stable for me, relative low cost, load temps weren't too high (48-51°C normally), runs well with low-latency RAM and RAM with default latencies, lasted me around five years before I upgraded to a faster processor, and it still works.

Cons: Socket 754 processors never supported dual-channel memory configurations, mine ran a little hot at idle (average of 35°C usually), very little L2 cache as compared to the A64's (128K vs 512K, and there is a noticeable difference in performance), not the best processor for heavy a multi-tasker. This processor is a little past its prime and is probably getting a little long in the tooth for those who are still running them.

Other Thoughts: I built my first system with this processor around mid/late 2006, started the system up for the first time and everything ran perfectly despite my lack of experience at the time.

It withstood the test of time , a poorly-ventilated case, and my inexperience.

Could run at 2.2GHz under stock cooling with a bit of luck and some tweaking, but it ran pretty hot at that speed, and that is probably about the limit for these chips with the stock HSF.

It can still handle most tasks today, as long as you're not trying to play today's hottest games with it (works fine for surfing the web and sending/receiving emails).

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Overclocker

Pros: I couldn’t clock it high enough for it to fail, although everything else around it got a little flakey. If you have the Motherboard and Bios to keep your memory and busses running correctly, then this is a great RETAIL processor; but then, all the AMD retail CPUs will run as high as your system will let them go. At any speed I could achieve, the thing ran cool as a cucumber. My dual-Opteron 242’s system has nine case-fans and two processor fans but still runs way too hot. The new AMD Sempron 64 3000+ Palermo 1.8GHz system runs cool with two case-fans and the processor fan, core temp just bumps up a bit from nominal to full-load.

4 out of 5 eggsgood cpu

Pros: excellent price. does well in hot areas (a downfall of the athlon xp 3000+ that it replaced, as the cooling tower in our bldg. breaks down regularly). it does what it's supposed to.

Cons: socket 754 so no dual channel, yet for this price, it's an ok trade-off.

4 out of 5 eggsOverall good product

Pros: Good processor for its range, fast with windows xp and without any problems whatsoever.

Cons: the heat sink isn't doing its job very well and it's keeping processor at 53 degrees when idle

Other Thoughts: CPU itself is fast and reliable but make sure you either buy other type of compound grease for the heat sink and the fan or another heatsink and fan all together

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: I have had this processor for over 2 years and it is an EXCELLENT processor, it always stays cool, and even though it is out of date it plays every game i have ever tried to play on it(such as Oblivion and Dark Messiah). It is well worth the money if you dont have alot of money to spend.

Cons: old

Other Thoughts: I have never overclocked it myself, but i hear it overclocks very well.

5 out of 5 eggsGood budget processor

Pros: Very good processor for the money, runs XP very nicely

Cons: None to speak of

Other Thoughts: The included aluminum heatsink and fan actually do a pretty good job of keeping things cool. I was impressed.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great price for a retail CPU with approved heat sink and fan. Used ths cpu along with the MSI K8MM3-V board to replace a dead socket A motherboard (1600 XP)unit. Within an hour I was up and running again. I prefer retail CPU units since the right fan is there and minimizes question if a warranty matter should arise, although Ive never had a CPU fail by itself

Cons: None
