awesome
- Pros: Very fast, never had issues, temp. is always cool, no problems.
- Cons: Awhile ago the con was finding a fan/sink that fit. Now it's easy though.
- Other Thoughts: Will be getting second CPU soon.
Entry Level, Stability
- Pros: They are nice for all tasks.. I don't play games, so I can't offer advice there. I run a work station with two of these with 2 GB per processor. As running Adobe products, such as photoshop and then after effects and premiere, it's stable and renders really fast.
Maya, renders stable but seems sluggish as far as I'm concerned. But, nonetheless, with Lots of Raytracing on, and complex geometry and numerous light sources, batch renders are always solid. Not screaming.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Good place holders till the 45nm quad core processors prices come down, waaaaay down. I feel satisfied with having these at my disposal. They take care of business when you really need it done. Not always as fast as some people who are impatient may want.

- Pros: Been using these at work for over a year in a high end video editing workstation. Buying these for my home workstation..use these till later this year when the quad-core opterons come out!
- Cons: Stock fans can be a bit loud but it is to be expected as these are high-power procs and need a hefty fan to cool it.
- Other Thoughts: Dual and quad socket set ups are a must with this chip...It would be pointless to only use one.

Highlights
 |
AMD64 Dual-core Technology AMD64 is designed to enable simultaneous 32- and 64-bit computing with no degradation in performance. With dual-core technology there are two complete processor cores in one physical package running at the same frequency to deliver TRUE multi-tasking power. Users can freely switch from one program to another without pausing for the computer to catch up, reducing processing pause annoyances.
|
 |
AMD Virtualization Virtualization on desktop computers allows a single PC/Server to act like multiple virtual machines. Hardware-assisted AMD Virtualization and Direct Connect Architecture provide a balanced approach to improve virtualization performance, enabling more virtual machines to run per server
|
 |
HyperTransport Technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link designed to increase communication speeds between integrated circuits in computers, servers, embedded systems, and networking and telecommunications equipment. With HT technology the AMD Opteron 2212 Socket F processor enjoys 1000MHz system bus speeds.
