For business, Intel VT offers improved manageability, limiting downtime and maintaining worker productivity by isolating computing activities into separate partitions. In the home, Intel VT allows creating unique user environments for multiple family members using the same platform simultaneously.

5 out of 5 eggsRock on Intel (again)

Pros: Reviewed this back on 11/5/07. At that point, it had been running smoothly since February of that year. I managed to get this chip up to 3.6Ghz shortly after 11/5/07 and it stayed there until 1/2009 when I put it in a rig for a friend. Due to MOBO limitations, I was only able to clock it up to 3.4Ghz, but it is still humming along in that same PC. So, the way I see it 6 years in service (and going) at 40-50% OC without so much as a hiccup should be worth more than 5 eggs. Alas, Newegg only has 5 eggs to give :)

Cons: Considering the price I paid, how well it overclocked and given that it STILL fights like a champ 6 years later, there can't possibly be any cons.

Other Thoughts: If you need an older LGA 775 chip for a system and you can't afford or don't need one of the quad-core chips, the E6600 (Conroe, not the Pentium version) should be on your short list. For the record, the only remaining original components still in service from my 2/2007 build are this CPU, the PSU and...the case. If only all computer components had this kind of longevity after years and years of abuse...

5 out of 5 eggsGreat CPU

Pros: Good CPU never had any problems

Cons: Couldn't over clock

Other Thoughts: Listed under Cons but not really a con. just could not get this guy to over clock, maybe just the outside of the wafer stamp. but could not get this beast to overclock past 2.6 from 2.4 even with a good motherboard (BFG 680i).

5 out of 5 eggsMultiple units still going strong

Pros: Years after their introduction, I still have these chips powering my NAS and servers. They have no problems handling the moderate 24/7 workloads I give them.

Cons: Not Ivy Bridge?

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Intel, not AMD
Fast
Reliable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Bought it in 2007 and it still just plain rips.
No reason to go to a quad yet, my Conroe is still cruising along and does everything I need it to.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: nothing much to say really. this has been a great workhorse for 4+ years. I will definitely be considering Intel for my next CPU purchase after my experience with this processor, although of course I will research both AMD and Intel

Cons: stock fan/heatsink

Other Thoughts: This thing is still not obsolete in my opinion. runs Windows 7/modern web/HD videos perfectly fine, although hardcore gamers probably have left it behind some time ago.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Mid Level Choice

Pros: Fast, easy to overclock.

Cons: Still expensive for a processor that has been on the market since 2006.

Other Thoughts: I paired this processor with an EVGA 680i MB, 2 7900 GT cards, and Corsair ram. I am writing this review because I saw so many reviews wished they purchased the Quad core version. To be honest, the Quad core is a slower processor (check out Tom's Hardware if you don't beleive me). The reason why Quad cores are so much slower is that the front side bus is too slow to support four processors. You can have two cores running at 533 MHZ each, or you can have four cores running at 333.25 MHZ each. You won't notice a difference in games that only support one or two cores, until some programs start running in the background like virus scan or firewall software, then your system slows down to speeds of the old Intel (think of Pentium 4 Prescotts). Until motherboards have 2.0 GHZ FSB dual cores will be faster than quad cores.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat

Pros: Great CPU. When I bought it a a year ago the stock speed was great. Heck, even now it is a good gaming CPU. I am over clocking it now, it does a great job of that even with the stock heat sink.

Cons: A year ago: Nothing.
Now: Price. The Q6600 isn't much more money than this and it's the quad core version so I would get that if I were building my rig this year.

Other Thoughts: If you're a gamer this is a great CPU for the price and performance. It over clocks great so you can increase the speed as well. You can't go wrong with this, but the Q6600 is where it's at now.

5 out of 5 eggsC2D for Life

Pros: The Processor is fast for the money, dual core is the way to go for gaming as of right now. there are no games at the moment that i know of that use quad core. this processor handles any game or program i throw at it. Im sure the quad cores are better for video editing, and im sure in the future games will be geared towards quad core processors.

Cons: its not free ( Hey we all can dream )
