Deciding between the X6800 or the Q6700?
- Pros: This is Intel's fastest processor to date. I have burned a cd, did a virus scan, and played a game all at the same time without slowdown or bottleneck. Video encoding is a breeze as well. Benchmark programs rate it high. I can overclock this to 3.2Ghz and the temp is the same as stock speeds.
- Cons: Price, but you get what you pay for. The Heatsink fan it comes with is useless as well. Yeah it works, but it sounds like a vaccum cleaner. Use an aftermarket cooler.
- Other Thoughts: If you're trying to decide between this and the X6800, just remember this: You can overclock this to be faster/as fast as the 6800, but you can't add two cores to the 6800. If you're gonna spend this much for a processor, you might as well get the newest.
Amazing
- Pros: This thing is FAST. Having upgraded from a 3200 Athlon 64 I had no words when I saw this thing run. Paired with 4 gigs of ddr800 it has been my best computer experience ever. This thing just doesnt quit on you, i can only get it to 100 when using a 3d program, normally though i can have like 15 things open and it doesnt go past 50% ahah.
- Cons: The price obviously. Specially buying the processor a month ago cost me 100 dollars more for a non boxed one.
- Other Thoughts: Sincerelly I recommend this processor if you are going to be using multi threaded apps like maya, max, cinema 4d, premier, etc... I wouldnt spend the money on this just to play video games.
Specs: EVGA 680i, 4x Corsair ddr2 800 1GB, 2x 400 GB Samsung Spinpoints, x1950xt, Cooler Master Stacker, Tuniq Tower cooler, samsung 215 TW 21". Gateway 24" widescreen.

A MUST BY IF GOT THE CASH
- Pros: running this qx6700 with 4gb kingston ram, evga 9800gx2, 150gb raptor 10000rpm drive, i got 15000 in 3d mark 06 at stock clocks, i havent overclocked i tried on my asus p5n-e sli board but it can only reach about 2.8ghz and 848mhz ram speed before it becomes unstable, i know someone who has this on air cooling and been funning at 3.85ghz with zalman cooler for months, its blazing fast..this is fast enough i dont even need to over clock i play every game maxed out..except crysis everythings on high with no aa but af at x4 is playable source is outstandingly fast, i couldnt be happier with any other processor.
- Cons: if u dont have a top of the line motherboard..your gonna wish you did with this chip.
- Other Thoughts: this chip is nothing less than BEAST!
Great
- Pros: all the extreme processors are very much alike with OC and this is the cheapest of them.
- Cons: The resale value for this processor if your a die hard nut that needs to stay on top of current technology as soon as something new comes out is terrible you can buy it today never open it and try and resell it and get if your lucky 1/4 of the price:(
- Other Thoughts: I have this processor and OC to 3.6ghz with a zalman 9700. its more than enough performance you dont need anymore unless of course your that nut that needs the most current techlogy and has way too much money to throw in that never ending money pit everytime something new comes out!
It's The Best. . . Any Other Questions
- Pros: It's one of Intel's best processors. I can't get this thing to slow down. Multitasking, Gaming, CD burning, Playing Video or encoding.....Do 'em one at a time or ALL AT ONCE. It doesn't matter to this monster.
- Cons: Price. I've paid less for good vehicles than I did for this puppie!
- Other Thoughts: Just buy it! Don't even think about the price. It's like a shot @ the Dr. It hurts at first but the pain goes away and you feel better about it! Sell the car, the house, a kid, or all of em', just get this thing. You won't regret it.

Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad-core Processor With four processing cores, the multitasking monster Quad-Core Intel Core 2 Extreme processor delivers twice the performance on highly-threaded applications, taking your desktop PC experience into a completely new realm of mega power. The powerful processor delivers serious performance on the ultra-demanding games of today and tomorrow.

Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) Intel EM64T provides an enhancement to Intel 32-bit architecture by enabling the desktop processor platform to access larger amounts of memory. With appropriate 64-bit supporting hardware and software, platforms based on an Intel processor supporting Intel EM64T can enable use of extended virtual and physical memory.
|
 |
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST may provide an excellent balance between providing power when you need it and conserving power when you don't.
|
 |
Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.
