- Pros: I clamped it in place over a year ago and it's been running like a champ ever since. Asus p4p800-e deluxe mobo.
- Cons: The stock fan is starting to go out but is giving me plenty of "notice noise" so I can get a new one ordered.
Great Price and Speed
- Pros: I've been using this processor for over a year now with no problems. I currently use it with an ASUS P4P800-MX motherboard and a gig of memory. I don't do overclocking, so no comments on it.
- Cons: Over a year and it still runs. Nothing bad to say about it.
478 is a dying breed Get yours today
- Pros: 3.0 GHZ, overclockable to almost 3.3GHZ (on a Shuttle).
2x 1GB Cache (so pickup matching GB's of ram)
Is compatible with I.C.E. cooling system that comes with most Shuttle SFF's (used this Prescot with a very old ST62K)
- Cons: Tends to run Hot 60 to 80 degrees Celsius unless the fan is on full 12 volt speed (Then it's rather cool).
Didn't really need the retail heat sink, or the scary warranty info, though the size of it almost scared me away from putting the Prescott in my SFF Shuttle.
3.0 GHZ is about what my 2.4 GHZ Northwood was overclocakable too.
Felt the need to mod the case some more---removed the 3.5"/Card reader port from the case to make a wind tunnel with the case on---may need a dust filter over that.
- Other Thoughts: 478 is a dying breed, so upgrade today.
With poor cooling, take the case off and this doubles as a space heater.
