Threw in the towel
- Pros: Reasonably fast, reasonably oc'able, very easy install, good all around processor.
- Cons: NOT reasonably priced. Too much buck for not enough bang compared to both the OTHER chip vendor and-sadly-other products in their own lineup. Also--not a newsflash here--HOT, even at stock speeds. I thought I had installed something incorrectly b/c of the 55+C temps I was getting under load. Nope, just life with the woefully insufficient supplied cooler. Bought aftermarket cooling solutions, but only received marginal performance gains. I had great hopes of what this processor would do for me. Most of them were disappointed.
- Other Thoughts: I bought this processor about 6 months ago--with admittedly little research--for my dream PC. After installing a couple of 7800GTXs in SLI, some high dollar RAM, watercooler etc. and overclocking til the cows came home, I remained fairly disappointed with my benchmark scores and overall gaming performance. After throwing tons of money and time at the problem, I just threw in the towel and went with an identically priced processor solution from the other guys (new board and memory, of course). Loving life now.
Current system: Opty 170 @ 2.78 GHz, DFI UT SLI-DR, 2GB Corsair XMS, 2 X WD 74GB Raptors RAID 0, Zalman Reserator 1+ w/block on CPU and both GPUs, 2X XFX7800GTX in SLI, Silverstone 600W, Thermaltake Shark.
so far so good
- Pros: Wasn't DOA. EZ install. Runs cool at stock speeds. 2mb l2 cache
- Cons: only 12KB+16KB L1, bought all I can gripe about.
- Other Thoughts: Running in an Asus P5RD1 microatx board w/ 2gb corsair xms, dual intel gb nics. Its in a warm telco closet, running splat ngx as a firewall module. Runs reasonably cool at peak loads w/ arctic silver 5. Eats VPN tunnels for breakfast (avg 80 connects) on a 2mb E1. First Lga 775 build, so far so good.
Would not let me edit my Last post

Memory 1.1 RAtio @ 3-3-3-12 ( Need Better Memory )
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: None
