Cool Smoker
- Comments: I have been reading the Newegg reviews on this processor for weeks. When I decided to go to Win XP x64 I went with this processor. I have been running it non stop. I produce high resolution graphics for catalogues, flash movies, and interactive programming. While running Photoshop (6 graphics), Illustrator (22 page document), PageMaker, Dreamweaver, Flash, Word, and Outlook the best I could do with the temp was 35-37c. This was after more than 3 hours of production. IMPRESSIVE!! ! ! !
My old system 2.4c, 2 GB RAM, Rage 128MB video card, doing the same kind of work would reach temps greater than to 45c regularly. Due to some of the reviews I purchased a third party heat sink and fan just incase. The third party heat sink and fan is still in the unopened box. You may need to add an additional case fan to the front or back of the case to keep the air flowing, but the stock processor fan seems to be very adequate. Plus a case fan or two is less expensive. This processor is a great for graphic designing and Newegg is great for providing products and support that rate well above average. Good Job Newegg keep up the great job
nice
- Pros: Processor performs tasks nicely and can get to 3.72Ghz with slight tweaking stable.
- Cons: Nothing con about this processor.
- Other Thoughts: I don't have any heat problems. My processor runs 33C on a good day (idle) and about 40C on a warmer day with a stock heatsink. Just replace the thermal pad and seat the heatsink right =D

For the price its junk
- Pros: Nice stock cooler
- Cons: Way overpriced and sucks for gaming
- Other Thoughts: I handed my system with this down to my mother and am shocked they are still charging this much for it. I ran it with an x800 and 2 gigs of memory..when I switched to an athlon5000 I was stunned. I build systems and I have a special place for the p4..we have a dumpster. This is intels weakest attempt since the 386sx. Soaks juice..hot as an oven. You can get a dual core monster from amd or a base line core duo for this money! Dont cheat yourself!
Works well and lasts.
- Pros: This Processor works well and has lasted for well over 2 years. Its starting to get dated but for stock usage its good stuff.
- Cons: Not dual core.
- Other Thoughts: Its a good processor but just a bit more you can get a much faster dule core.
Quality doesn't fade
- Pros: Performs well. Stable, reliable, can still pull its weight. Of course this chip is several years old, but how many programs actually take advantage of multiple cores? Count them on your hand. 64-bit obviously allows you to run XP or Vista based on 64-bit.
- Cons: Some people lacking proper case ventilation will probably want to consider a third party heatsink/fan. This processor can run a little warm. I wouldn't want to spend any more than $60 on a chip such as this due to its age and cost/performance ration of anything newer. But Newegg needs to make money to provide outstanding service and quality products.
- Other Thoughts: I didn't buy this processor from Newegg (still vibrantly recommend them though); rather used from e b a y. One reason I like this chip, and most from Intel, is that despite the age or usage it's still completely reliable. People need to stop comparing this to the Core 2 Duos and newer chips. Obviously the Core 2 Duos and subsequent chips are going to be faster, as newer chips always are. I do agree if you are doing anything other than upgrading an older computer with a specific chipset, go with a more up to date chip.

Versatility, Performance and Reliability to Meet All Your Computing Needs Everyone wants something different from their computer—work, play, Internet, music, learning and more. A PC featuring the Intel Pentium 4 Processor opens the door to many new experiences and is as versatile as you are.
|
 |
Greater Performance with Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology) Hyper-threading enables multi-threaded software applications to execute two software threads in parallel to improve system responsiveness. Intel Pentium 4 Processors enabled with HT Technology deliver performance and multitasking gains that result in increased productivity and efficiency.
|
 |
Scalability and Performance with Intel EM64T Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) can improve performance by allowing the system to address more than 4 GB of both virtual and physical memory. Intel EM64T also provides support for 64 bit computing to help handle the applications of tomorrow.
|
 |
Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology (EIST) EIST allows the system to dynamically adjust processor voltage and core frequency to decrease average power consumption and average heat production. Combined with existing power saving features, EIST may provide an excellent balance between providing power when you need it and conserving power when you don't.
|
 |
Execute Disable Bit (EDB) Intel's Execute Disable Bit function can prevent certain classes of malicious "buffer overflow" attacks when combined with a supporting operating system. Execute Disable Bit allows the processor to classify areas in memory where application code can execute and where it cannot. When a malicious worm attempts to insert code in the buffer, the processor disables code execution, preventing damage or worm propagation.
