The Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5100 series processors empower next-generation platforms with the capabilities to get more done on fewer systems, optimize data center density and improve business continuity. These innovative and powerful processors redefine what DP (Dual-Processor) servers and workstations should deliver to help business be more efficient, dependable and agile.
The Xeon 5140, with 64-bit, dual-core computing and greater power efficiency, is ideal for intense computing environments, business-critical applications and high-end workstations. Powered by the Intel 5000 series chipset family and Fully Buffered DIMM (FBDIMM) technology, these platforms are expected to deliver up to 3 times the performance and over 3 times the performance/watt of previous generation single-core Intel Xeon Processors.
Featuring a 1333MHz FSB, 4MB shared L2 cache and an operating speed of 2.33GHz with a TDP of only 65W, the dual-core Intel Xeon 5140 processor delivers impressive performance, reliability and versatility, and will help drive low total cost of ownership.

everything great but heat
- Pros: excellent CPU for great price
- Cons: passive heat sinks are terrible. You will need to buy aftermarket, active heat sinks or other cooling solution.
Nice Server CPU
- Pros: I had a server built with this cpu and it rocks! Nothing slows it down so far. Runs much cooler then previous Xeons.
- Cons: no cons
- Other Thoughts: Woodcrest with 1333 bus is a real sweet spot for performance vs price.
