2 out of 5 eggsUnhappy

Pros: None!!!!!!!!! at this time. I will give the Pros later!

Cons: Memory DOA!!! one stick of my memory arrived dead! This is a brand new build. I have to send both sticks back to get a matched set back. I have a brand new high end computer that I can't use going on 3 weeks because the memory is back ordered at the factory and no estimated shipping date.

Before I could get them to agree that the memory was bad I had to do the e-mail tech. support for days. It's not easy to return things that don"t work.

Other Thoughts: I have saved for a long time to build this $8,000.00 dollar computer and now it's just sitting because of two sticks of Corsair memory. I wish I could order more memory but I'm out of cash for a few weeks. Corsair is a very good company, I just had bad luck!

So all I can do is look at it seating on my desk. It looks nice water cooled, etc. I hope they ship my memory soon!

Manufacturer Response:

We are very sorry you had the module failure and will get you r replacement to you ASAP. If you have any questions please contact customer service again:

4 out of 5 eggsYet another pair burned ... 6 months

Pros: Fast memory

Cons: when it works

Other Thoughts: in 1.5 years I went through (RMAs): 8500C5 -> 8500C5 -> 8500C5D -> 10000... (see previous posts) Now both chips went bad, 6 months of 90% runtime (I rarely shut down the PC). Good thing there is lifetime warranty, although I'm beginning to get annoyed at the 5th RMA....

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: For the person that was implying that those with burned out memory were overvolting, that is absolutely false. I had two pairs of Corsair 8500C5 memory modules fail within 2-4 months of installing them, and in both cases I ran at or slightly below rated voltages (verified by using a digital voltmeter and reading the voltage off the motherboard directly--in other words the motherboard was sending the correct volts to my memory). I worked with Corsair techs and they could not explain the reason for the failed memory. Many other people have also had failed modules. They were, however, professional and replaced both sets without any problems. Corsair doesn't care if you overclock your MB and CPU, just don't overvolt the memory. They stand by their product. Just don't expect their high end memory modules to never fail. They may. If you start having programs close or give you error messages, run Memtest86+ to verify the memory hasn't gone bad.

Cons: High perfmance memory modules sometimes fail, resulting in a down time of approximately 7 days, while waiting for your new memory.

Other Thoughts: I would definately buy Corsair again, because of their solid no hassle return policy. They stand by their product. I didn't even need my purchase receipt.

5 out of 5 eggsIt works ...

Pros: Good quality, Lifetime warranty

Cons: $$

Other Thoughts: in 1.5 years I went through (RMAs):
8500C5 -> 8500C5 -> 8500C5D -> 10000.

I do overclock the CPU, not the memory
Board Run specs: C2D 400x8 1.475v , Memory on 5:4 -> 1000Mhz Dual Channel mode at 2.2v (spec)
All previous chips were burning out (note that the memory voltage was always @2.2). Corsair did right by and upgraded me to 10K. The memory is still set to 2.2v @1000 Mhz; for this chip it is underclocked but it is the same Micron DG9....

4 out of 5 eggswrong, wrong and wrong

Pros: fast. good for intel cpus running very high fsb on intel chipsets (intel no longer supports downward dividers on their chipsets)

Cons: price

Other Thoughts: to the guy who said get 8gb of ddr2 800. you are right. of course 8gb of any ram will make your system perform beter than 2gig of any other ram. if you are an enthusiast, you should be running a 64 bit os. come on, this is 2008. to the anti evga guys. evga does not build motherboards, or anything else. foxconn built their 680i boards. their 680i board and the bios is exactly the same as all the other reference boards. if you "killed your ram" you were running too high vdimm. the vast majority of guys with "killed" ram were runing it at 2.4v or above. windows 32 bit "consumer" os's reserve and use the "missing" part of memory for the pci bus. some chipsets will allow you to use this, by enabling memory remapping in the bios. but most drivers and add on cards do not support memory addresses in this range, so this might cause instability and crashes. run a 64 bit os.
overclocked to 2000mhz? lol.

1 out of 5 eggs***WARNING***

Pros: Don't know yet. System will not boot

Cons: A lot of money for something that is not working!!

Other Thoughts: When I received my product (4 sticks of PC10000) I noticed the packages had been opened and stapled back together. When installing the first 'stick' the heat sink face fell off. I immediately contacted newegg but have not received an answer. MY LAST PURCHASE HERE!! Thing I might have got somebodys returnded items.

4 out of 5 eggsNoob post below

Pros: Fast for noobs who dont know how to properly OC other ram such as Cell Shock,which are currently my favorite modules.

Cons: DONT stick this in a 680i mobo.Aside from the 680i boards being the worst and finicky boards Ive ever used or had to fix(replace)due to all the problems they have,they WILL kill your ram,EVGA is at fault on this one as there are just too many issues with these boards aside from the above.

Other Thoughts: To the noob(tech level high?? LOL) who states that you should buy 4gb of 800mhz.Just because Windows doesnt show up ram amount right doesnt mean that you arent using all 4gb's.Howz about you install HWINFO to see how much you are really running dude.I have personally seen a friend go from Dominator 2gb kit(1142mhz) to 4gb kit of 800mhz and his computer doesnt respond nearly as fast with the 4gb as he had before.
