Worked in a Dell Optiplex 320
- Pros: cheap, good name, boosted computer from a stock 256MB??? to 1GB and it became a new computer
- Cons: windows blue screened at the first boot up, but has been fine since
It worked
- Pros: Alright so, it worked well, no bsod recognized by bios right away, boot into system fine, vista recognizes, everything is alright and I'm topped up to 3gigs of ram on my 32bit os.
- Cons: Um, I might need to OC it I guess, even though I didn't want to, MY windows user index rating subscore for ram operations drop from 5.5 to 5.4, but I see no difference in performance, good or bad as of yet.
- Other Thoughts: I've been upgrading parts for my dell inpsiron 530, psu, heatsink, graphics card, etc(Yeah, I wasted my money buying a dell lulz) and I wanted to bring up my ram to 3 gigs because I noticed how whatever recent game I ran, it would basically suck up all the ram and leave me with around 200mb, I thought I would get a slight performance boost, alt tabing, boot up etc, but we'll see, it's too early to tell as of yet.
Unbeatable Value
- Pros: Tremendous performance to price ratio. Every pair, for me, has done 800Mhz @ 5-5-5-15 2T with no voltage increase. The memory performs reliably and without error at these speeds. Heat spreaders look and stay cool.
- Cons: Few BIOS' will be able to automatically clock these sticks correctly ,mostly due to a wierd quotient (675Mhz), and especially if your CPU uses a "Half Multiplier" ie 12.5 = 2.5Ghz. Out of half a dozen pairs, two sticks did not initially work, but just clean the contacts with 90% or greater alcohol and a GENTLE tweek to the heat spreader and viola!, they were back in business.
- Other Thoughts: Novice users may have a hard time getting the full potential out of this memory. But for those who don't mind going into the BIOS and playing around, they will do much more than advertised. Personally I've maxed them at 870Mhz CAS 5 @2.1V and if I had more time to play with timinigs im sure they could go higher. For under $15 thats though to beat.
