Crucial Technology's Ballistix memory modules are designed for gamers, graphics and performance enthusiasts. They have high speed grades and low latencies to get your system running as fast as possible. The integrated heat spreader minimizes heat issues and helps to eliminate the BSOD from memory issues.
This 4GB kit (2GBx2) is designed to take advantage of dual channel mode for increased performance. The PC2-6400 memory can transfer a whopping 6.4GB/s of data ensuring that the memory subsystem isn't the bottleneck that slows your system.
Make sure your system will run it, then give your machine a kick in the motherboard with these Ballistix from Crucial!
Pros: To set things straight, I am an advanced overclocker with both liquid cooling and phase change. This RAM is great for a few reasons. First off, you can obviously see in newegg's specs that it has 4-4-4-12 timing. This is good, right, but what differentiates this from other ram with the same speed and timings? The voltage and the headroom. Due to the large headroom provided by Crucial, these sticks can clock very fast at their stock volts, and timings are easy to keep low. The other great thing, the voltage, is at a nice and low 2.0 volts, so you still have plenty of room to raise it. 2.1v is very safe as long as you have reasonable case airflow, and 2.2v is fine in most machines as well. The combination of this headroom and conservative voltage makes for very overclockable RAM. I am only pushing my CPU for now, but I booted and ran max stress with Prime95 with no issues at 1150mhz and 5-5-5-15 timings. Keep in mind there is plenty of work left for me to do in order to reach potential!!
Cons: absolutely 0
Other Thoughts: I got on black friday from Fri's for $40 minus $20 mail in rebate.
System specs: DFI p45 T2RS+ Core 2 Duo e8500 at ~-30c on phase change cooling Radeon 4850, soon to be below ambient on waterchiller

Great memory

Pros: This is some great ram. I have it running at ddr2 1066/5-5-5-15 2t with only 1.8V. Completely stable. Going from cheap Corsair to this allowed to turn down the voltage on my processor as well while keeping the same speed. At stock speeds of 800/4-4-4-12 2t, it benchmarked at 9.2 gb/s. This compared to the Corsiar at the same timings and speeds which got 8.6 gb/s.
Cons: Can't think of any. I'll see if rebate comes back, haven't had any rejected yet this year.
Other Thoughts: This is at the top of its class when it comes to ddr2 ram right now. Tests have shown it running as high as 1245, but I'm happy with 1066 right now so I haven't tried. Maybe in a couple years when I get what will be at the time a cheap Intel.

Be sure to set voltage manually

Pros: Fast memory, fast timings, lifetime warranty
Cons: Was not stable at default settings. Machine turned off spontaneously. Need to manually specify voltage. 2V is specified on Crucial's website. Thanks for the tip, Sleeping Panda!
Other Thoughts: Running on an ASUS M4N72-E motherboard, X2 5800+

Cons: Within 6 months of my first set of 2x1gig, both sticks went bad. Crucial replaced them with no trouble. Over a year later, another went bad. My local vendor does not carry Crucial gaming memory any longer, due to their failure rate. I still have a set of 2x2gig that's good, so I'm not dead in the water, but I won't buy Crucial "high-end" RAM again.
Other Thoughts: I realize that my sticks that failed were of the 1 gig variety, but thought it significant that my local shop will only carry Crucial's standard memory any more.
I highly recommend NOT getting this RAM, for your own sanity.
