Slow Transfer Speeds
- Pros: 8GB of storage capacity, proven SanDisk reliability...
- Cons: Takes forever to download images from my Canon 40D to my PC or my Mac... It took almost a 1/2 hour to transfer a card that was half-full (or half-empty, depending on how u see these type of things -- lol) of RAW images on either machine...
- Other Thoughts: I guess at one point, the 10mb/s read and 9mb/s write were pretty fast... but I also have a PNY CF Card, that is waaay faster than this Ultra II...
Im looking into purchasing the Ultra III right now and keeping the Ultra II as a back-up... 30mb/sec read times F-T-W!
For the record, my PC is pretty fast. It has a Dual-Core Intel CPU running at 2.4 Ghz, 1000 Mhz FSB, a RAID mirror setup using 2 Raptor drives, maxed out memory at 4GB with some in allocation, and over a TB in HD space... My Mac is a MacBook Pro and its not bogged down with software... So my computers are not slow... Its the cards transfer rates...
Awesome card
- Pros: Picked up 2 of these as an "upgrade" for my Canon 5D. Even burst shots write more quickly than single shots on a different card.
- Cons: Doesn't matter when you buy, it'll be cheaper next week...
- Other Thoughts: I may pick up a 16GB just to test the differences.
Nice!
- Pros: Awesome performance vs value; my tests showed read/write speeds within 1MB/s of the quoted values. SanDisk has proven itself to be the most reliable CF card manufacturer; I've never had a corrupt image. When used in the Canon 5D this puppy will hold ~500 RAW photos, I can't imagine needing/wanting anything larger (for a single card anyway).
- Cons: None! Considerably cheaper than the 2GB Ultra II I got 3 years ago.
- Other Thoughts: Don't put all your eggs in one basket, keep a spare card/camera handy if you are doing anything professionally.
