5 out of 5 eggsSolid Memory

Pros: I purchased 3 more sticks of this to add to and match the memory I put in my brothers rig 3 years ago. the first stick never gave him an bit of trouble

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: if you have an older board and this is the fastest memory you can install you can't hardly beat the price/performance

5 out of 5 eggsGreat, Long Lasting Memory

Pros: It looks awesome, and is pretty cheap. Mine have lasted over 2 years now, and I just bought another one to max me out at 4gb. Lifetime warranty can come in handy.

Cons: Nothing much. I did have one go bad on me, but that *lifetime warranty* kicked in, and all is well.

Other Thoughts: If you still run off of DDR2-800, than this memory is simply the best RAM you could buy. Might want to get the 2gb stick, though, just to get the most possible RAM for your slots.

2 out of 5 eggsProblem and Resolution

Pros: Fast, excellent RAM

Cons: Had RAM errors on and off for quite a while. Usually during large transfers of data, or when I had numerous programs open. Ran countless prgrams and tests to try and find the problem to no avail. The RAM sits under other parts so it can't be seen easily. Today I dug into the system again and found what I assume was a heat sink had pulled loose (connected with two sided, not very sticky tape). It was laying against the chip and the empty metal slot for the next chip. I removed the part and I have tested again with no errors.

Other Thoughts: I bought a second stick of this RAM well after the first and that is when the problems started. I would have rated this RAM earlier, but decided not to since I could not find any testable problem with it. I have come to the conclusion that the part that fell off was either causing a short or overheating. I am not happy with the part falling off, which is adding to my dislike of Patriot products.

Manufacturer Response:

Greetings,

The adhesive that we use to attach our heat shields to our memory is very durable. It sounds like you may have received a bad module. Please do not hesitate to contact the support department to institute an RMA to replace that defective module.

Support@patriotmem.com

We will happily work with you to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Thank you for purchasing Patriot Memory!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat RAM

Pros: This stuff is great, it's quick, reliable, and CHEAP! Bought two sticks of this to add to my existing one, and noticed a major performance increase. I will buy another when I have the money.

Cons: For some reason the default timing on these are set higher than the 4-4-4-12 timing it says in the manufacturer specs. To set the timing to 4-4-4-12 I had to go into my Bios and manually change it. No big deal though.

Other Thoughts: I highly recommend this stuff, just check your Bios to make sure you are getting the 4-4-4-12 timing!
