NO DICE
- Pros: Sweet heat spreaders, fair price for the ammount of memory.
- Cons: Nothing but problems, and OCZ knows about it. Tried with two different motherboards, and went through alot of time and money as a result. With a DualCore2 system (6300 chip) I tried two of the intel based P965 chipset based motherboards. One by Gigabyte and the other by MSI. The MSI board booted with the ram, but did a bizzaro install of WinXP(which required a re-install) and then afterwards caused countless errors/crashes/restarts etc even after BIOS update. The Gigabyte board wouldnt boot AT ALL, so I had to buy a stick of G.Skill DDR2 800 512mb to get the system up and install the OS. After a bios update I was able to install the OCZ, but the same instability insued. Adjusting the Votage rating for the RAM did NOTHING.
- Other Thoughts: OCZ made no argument with the issue and is going to exchange the RAM for a higher end pair that is "supposed" to be compatible. Apparently the gold ram has issues with detection on certain chipsets. The problem is, now I get to go with only the 512mb of system ram untill the exchange is complete. Also...the 'support' system with OCZ is less then traditional. Not sure what's behind that, but try calling the 800 or local numbers. I got no answers, and the voicemail to a guy named "Jimmy", not OCZ tech support, please choose from the following options...just "this is Jimmy, leave me a message". Come to find out via an email from one of their support agents, that Jimmy actually is real, and he's the head of tech support. Just a realy odd setup.
But beyond all that, helpful none-the-less.
Warning to ASUS M2N32-SLI deluxe owners!
- Pros: Fast and flashy, OCZ is great usually...
- Cons: Does not work for ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe! I too learned the hard way. Before bios update it works and lets you get into setup, but then gives many BSOD's. The main BSOD that lets you know its the ram is the IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error. I've dealt with this one many a time with dead/incompatable chips. Do not get if you own the stated motherboard.
- Other Thoughts: if only the OVL had more tests...

- Other Thoughts: I've used OCZ products before, with great sucess. Great pricing for the memory type and capacity. Used on ASUS M2N-E SLI AM2 NVIDIA nForce 500 SLI MCP. Newegg processing and shipping got it to me 2 days early.
