Great RAM, lan party ultra-d doesnt like!
- Pros: Does nearly 270 mhz @ 3-3-2-7, 2.8v, memtest stable... on my lp ultra-d. Great heatspreaders, looks amazing, handles high volts alright, ocs decent.
- Cons: Compatibility issues with lp ultra-d... It will not boot with both sticks in, but works fine in all other machines...Not bad ram but the situation is unfortunate.
- Other Thoughts: Great ram, is the best of whats left in DDR until it phases out shortly here, grab it if it comes back in stock.
Love OCZ but...
- Pros: They look pretty. Been very pleased with OCZ platinum series in the past.
- Cons: Bought 4 gigs same time. First 2 gig set wouldn't even allow me to boot. Second gig set booted, and seemd to work. Memtested reported no errors on an 8hr run. Strange that the memory defaulted to 3-3-2-7@ddr500 when rated at 3-3-2-8@ddr500. 3-3-2-7 wasn't stable in 3D apps ie. random FPS loss in 3dmark06 and fps loss, hangs and crashes in Oblivion. Changed TRAS to spec'd setting of 8, problem continued anyway. No difference between 1T and 2T timings. Loosened timings to 4-4-3-8@ddr500 and wouldn't boot. Tried 4-4-4-8 timings and wouldn't make it to boot screen, just reset. Tried volts 2.6-3.0 on all settings with no difference. DDR499 and below things seemd to work fine at 3-3-2-8. Since I come from a set of 2-3-2-5@ddr400 OCZ platinum I tried that out and everything worked fine. Timings stayed stable up around DDR430. Hopefully this RMA I'll have better luck.
- Other Thoughts: Read alot on this series of ram. Was looking forward to pulling DDR550 @ 3-3-2-8 timings. Saw success as high as 280 frequencies. Seems this ram is happier at lower voltages, 2.6v @ ddr500 and even 2.7v at ddr550. Hopefully I'll get to see for myself :)
As always, newegg rocks!

I love OCZ
- Pros: Good stuff, same thing as the mushies but cheaper.
Windows stable with 2.65-2.70v but requires right at 2.8v to get 3d stable so don't undervolt and then complain about it. Not sure where it max's at. Beautiful plat spreaders
- Cons: None that i can see.
