Every computer needs more memory, even if you think you have enough. No matter what computer you have, or if you're building a new system, memory is vital to a computer. Generally speaking the more you have the better the computer will perform. Just make sure which specific type of memory your system requires.
Keeping that in mind, G.Skill's 1GB DDR module is perfect for adding to the performance of your computer. It is a very inexpensive and easy way to increase the performance of any system. Many systems require adding two modules at once, so make sure of your numbers.. This module is DDR 400(PC2 3200), running at 400MHz, and will run on any appropriate motherboard. Pick yourself up some of G.Skill's DDR 400 memory and you will see your system accelerate beyond your dreams!
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: I took it to DDR500 with 3-3-3-7 with out raising voltage. The default is 2-3-2-5. Its actually better than what the G.Skill technician said from XS forum. So highly recommended. Actually, G.Skill is one of the hotest memory modules in nowadays market.
Cons: No, at least for now.

Works to pep Athlon 64

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: It does pep up an Athlon 64, especially a stubborn Newcastle or Sempron socket 754.
Extends the lifespan of Athlon 64 and similar aging processors by enhancing their performance.
Makes a Sempron or Celeron perform like their more expensive big brothers. Great stuff!!
Works quite well on DDR400, DDR333, and DDR266 systems, enhancing the performance of all of these with its tight memory timings.
Can run at CAS 1.5 on DDR 266 systems, bringing up their power to enough for Vista.
Compensates for the 754's flaws: These are obviously intended to be used as a pair to support a 754 CPU although this memory can do so much more. I say obvious because the extreme low latency will compensate the 754's memory slowdowns, such as their tendancy to reduce speed to 333 whenever more than one chip is used. This product successfully substitites extreme low latency for what the 754 lacks in speed. And, that trick makes the whole deal work quite well.
Cons: Cas2 chips are for the purpose of helping out CPU chips that don't have much cache ram. This includes Sempron, any Socket 754, and Athlon 64 Newcastle and almost every Intel CELERON (boosts right up to P4 speeds). However, it is unlikely to boost an Athlon 64 939 because that has such a large cache and always runs the memory at high speed anyway.
The memory timings of Cas2 may be a bit too quick for some motherboards to comprehend; however, if this happens, just plug it into the 2nd memory socket instead.
The heat spreader fits loosly and is actually a heat causer, not a cooling device. Fortunately, it also falls off quite easily. Whether in place or not, it isn't a problem except for HTPC (TV PC) builds where space is tight. This memory is very heat tolerant and the loose fitting decoration (can see daylight between heat spreader and chips where it doesn't even touch) is pretty dumb. But, it is a fairly insignificant issue.
Other Thoughts: This is a very good product that works exactly as advertised.
Its main use is to give a big push to Athlon 64 CPU chips, especially the problematic 754 chips that were previously impossible to push up to "modern performance".
Instead of experimentation to find memory speeds, 2-3-3-6 description is built in to a high quality memory chip.
Where was this product when I first built up my Athlon 64 system? When used as a pair at DDR333, these cause previously unstable motherboards to run high speed with extraordinary performance.
For using just one chip at DDR400, you might need to plug it into the 2nd dimm socket (depends on motherboard).
It is highly necessary to run Memtest for any new ram and this one is no exception. Mine ran the test through the night in an 80F degree room at 2-3-3-6 1T and did so perfectly.
