Every computer needs more memory, even if you think you have enough. No matter what computer you have, or if you're building a new system, memory is vital to a computer. Generally speaking the more you have the better the computer will perform. Just make sure which specific type of memory your system requires.

Keeping that in mind, G.Skill's 2GB (2 x 1GB) dual channel kit is perfect for adding to the performance of your computer. Designed for high performance systems, the distinctive orange heat-spreader helps cool the memory because higher timings and overclocking create more heat. This module is DDR2 667(PC2 5400), which runs at 667MHz, and will run on any appropriately-built motherboard. You'll get a great return on your memory dollar with this module from G.Skill!

  • newegg G.SKILL DDR2 SDRAM G.SKILL system memory provides unbelievable performance and broad compatibility for PC enthusiasts. G.SKILL system memory is 100% manually tested twice to ensure top-level product yield and quality.
  • newegg DDR2 667 DDR2 667 delivers incredible performance and platform compatibility with up to 5.3GB/s memory bandwidth for enhanced work and gaming power!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks good! Shipped fast! Shipped safe!

Pros: I think it runs at proper speeds (my mobo is confusing me).

Exactly as the pictures show.

Voltage, timings, etc. on newegg listing are accurate.

All 4 sticks of RAM purchased work perfectly, none are DOA in anyway (except for a very, very minor scratch on the top of the RAM, but it does not affect performance).

When set to automatic settings, the RAM does not heat up excessively, with minor heat at best.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: My motherboard is giving an odd read-out (Intel mAtx D945GTP). The motherboard (at automatic settings) claims to be running Slot 0 and 1 of Channel A and B at 800mhz, with timings of 5-4-4-12, and Slot 0 and 1 of Channel A and B (the last two slots) at 667mhz, with timings of 5-5-5-15.

When I attempted to change these settings in the BIOS, I set it to Manual - User Defined, 667mhz, timings of 5-5-5-12 (refused to let me set it to 15). With exception to the tRAS, this should've been acceptable by the RAMs standards, but the motherboard refused to boot, giving 3, long, drawn-out beeps while receiving power. I had to clear the CMOS to change the settings back, and just use it as is.

I'm sure that all of this is as a result of the motherboard (and I cross-checked compatibility match before buying the RAM), but I still found it to be odd behavior.

Dear Customer

Thank you for your G.Skill purchase and review. Glad to hear two of these kits are working perfectly in your system. With 4GB installed, your computer should be capable of streaming, multi-tasking, and more without any lag or delay. This is plug and play RAM, so you should not have to configure any settings in BIOS. To check actual operating values, downlod CPU-Z and look in the memory tab. Those are current live values. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to contact us directly. We will be glad to straighten things out for you and make sure everything is running as it should.

Thank you

5 out of 5 eggsNo drama

Pros: * Works great

Cons: * None so far

Other Thoughts: Bought this to replace some faulty memory on a computer dedicated for an old 3d CAD application that will only run on Windows 2000 and an AGP card. Had a dual boot arrangement and ran XP. Old memory would kill right in the middle of browsing without even a blue screen. Replaced power source, video card, etc. New memory perfect, same brand as my i7 based. Good stuff.
