Had better
- Pros: Very inexpensive, great capacity for the price, small form size, can be used horizontally or vertically, uses a SATA Western Digital drive
- Cons: Fan makes all sorts of noise when drive is turned on and then stops after about 3 minutes, very slow even on USB 2.0, cheaply built, lousy power switch, has(had) a "Warranty Void If Removed" sticker that fell off by itself 4 days after I started using it.
- Other Thoughts: I'm afraid I cannot recommend this drive, I was using it as a back-up drive but it's numerous flaws and defects finally forced me to open this drive, removed the HD and buy another case. Had a pleasant surprise however when I found not only a Western Digital hard drive peering back at me from it's innards, but a SATA one at that! Most external hard drives use PATA drives, so it was a nice semi-bonus!
Steer Clear Of Cavalry
- Pros: The price seemed resonable and it worked for a while. PC recognized the drive and stated 28oG free space which is good for a 300G drive taking into consideration it's only an estimate and need to be formatted. Newegg swapped out the first failed drive.
- Cons: 2 of them failed. Newegg swapped out the first one so obviously it failed within the first 30 days. It got replaced with a different model as the one I purchased was obsolete. The second one failed within 1 year and is now my problem. The worst is that I have over 250G of files lost. I know, back up or shut up! That's what the external hard drive was for: back up! Shame on me.
- Other Thoughts: Evidentally Cavalry is building an inferior drive to offer the prices. It was not worth it. I have to go to the Geek Squad to recover my files and will need a new hard drive to store them on. Please save yourself the trouble these drives will cost you and research a more dependable drive.
Junk
- Pros: Lots of Storage Space
- Cons: Can only be used one time before it fails.
- Other Thoughts: I purchased 3 of these and they have all failed.
