Great Ex HD
- Pros: Everyone this is an excellent external HD for those who want to backup or need that extra space without putting a hole in your wallet. People seem to not know for some reason but there is a power button right on the front of the HD, the button is the circle green light. You can turn it on and off anytime you want once its plugged into your computer. The HD itself is ready to go out of the box with 320gigs in FAT32 formatt. Its once after you formatt it to NTFS that you'll end up with about 300gigs. If you don't know why, google it. No heat issues, quiet, sturdy, and easy to use. Basically plug n play style. If you have any problems, I highly recommend you read the manual, has all the answer you need there. example, how to formatt a FAT32 to NTFS. etc etc. No CD required, once you plug the USB in, it installs all software for you automatically, the add-ons like google stuff are optional to install. Design looks cool, not as thin as the other HD i've seen, but cool nevertheless..
- Cons: Nothing I can think of. I know some people were complaing about not being able to turn on the HD without plugging the USB into a computer, but why would you want it turned on if it wasn't? I think its a great security ability that the HD only turns on when its plugged in because it reduces any chance of leaving it on by accident, you know heat. Plus once its plugged into your computer, you can turn if off or on with the push button or use the program to turn it off. I prefer the program, it prompts you when you can turn it off and shuts off automatically. Just a much safer way of doing things. Also it turns off automatically when your computer shuts down. But I won't deal with that since my computer is on 24/7. Happy shopping!
- Other Thoughts: Since its a WD I'm hoping its reliability is just as good as its user friendly design, I recommend it but I always say, research on your own frist before anything else.
Great Product, easy to use, (and yes, turn on and off)
- Pros: Great Product, Big Capacity, Fast, SooooOOOooo easy to use. the people who are having problems with turning this thing on and off are missing the fact that the one and only button on the drive is a power button, It does power up/down with the system, but you can turn it on and off whenever you feel like it by pressing the giant circle on the front. tough & stable, also, it looks friggin sweet
- Cons: a little larger than some externals, and only USB 2, no Firewire. oh, and it comes default as FAT32, so it takes a bit of waiting on it to reformat to NTFS, but its easy to do.
- Other Thoughts: I would buy this drive again in a second, I have owned countless other externals and few have given me less hassle than this drive, you plug it in and it works. dont be fooled by the few scattered low reviews, this drive is exactly as advertised.

Not very durable
- Pros: Cheap, good small size.
- Cons: Cheaply made, casing not very durable.
- Other Thoughts: Had my drive for 1 year and 3 months before it died on me unexpectedly one day. Lost all my backup information. The ironic thing is that i backed up all the info from two hard drives I had in my old machine that were both over 7 years old. I figured they would die well before this one died, boy was I wrong. Manufacturers warranty is 1 year... the joke is on me. I'd go with Seagate or another manufacturer if I had to do it all over again.
Not too bad
- Pros: Although bigger than most externals it does have a lot of cooling space. Runs quiet and is fast for an USB drive.
- Cons: Price should be a tad lower as you can get one double the size for a few dollars more.
- Other Thoughts: Had an issue at first with it pausing my boot up when my G11 keyboard was pluged. Went away when i reinstalled the G11 drivers.
Great drive
- Pros: Drive spins down after inactivity period. Most cheapo enclosures don't do that. Turns off and on with your PC (assuming that your USB bus powers down too). Cool and quiet drive from a respectable manufacturer. HDD has some basic shock resitant mounting. Great price, not any more than you would spend on an empty enclosure and a good HDD.
- Cons: Slightly bigger than some other enclosures for travelling but still takes up less desk space in use. A power button would kind of be nice so I can turn it off without having to unplug it, but the drive spins down anyway so that's almost as good.
- Other Thoughts: Buy one. NEW EGG ROCKS.
