Works, exccept for esata
- Pros: Lots of room to store all of your files. Very reliable in terms of
- Cons: I'm very disappointed with the esata support. Used USB and Firewire for a few months before I decided to get a esata cable for my new computer. Doesn't work. Contacted support and they never got back to me.
Not sure if it's Windows 7, ACHI (I've tried it both enabled and disabled), or a driver issue but have fun trying to get esata to work!
- Other Thoughts: If you're going with a My Book, save yourself the time and money and just get a USB one.
- Pros: Small, easy to set up, good capacity
- Cons: Had to babysit the entire backup, would shutdown and restart every so often. Biggest issue is that you can't restore in Windows 7 (WD says they are working on a firmware upgrade, no release date). Very annoying since I bought this to upgrade! Also odd that Newegg is bundling this with Windows 7!
- Other Thoughts: As usual newegg was great!
Worked Great, That Is Until It Broke
- Pros: Good capacity, well priced
- Cons: Ok, so it quit working. It is a mechanical device and these things can fail, but trying to get Western Digital help is where the fun began. I received a valid RMA based on the warranty, shipped it back, and waited weeks only to get back my broken drive without any explanation--poorly packed, I might add. I contacted customer support and after several email exchanges I was asked for the serial number, which I dutifully replied to. Not being good enough, I was then asked to take a photo of the drive's label. After doing that all I got back from the company was, as they say, zilch. Not a replacement drive, not a reply.
- Other Thoughts: Based on my experience, my suggestion is to buy a drive from a different company, one that stands behind their products.
