5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: - Easy to get started
- Played almost every format I owned (see below for con)
- Menus worked really well
- Good price

Cons: - Would not work with some of the more advanced hard drives, but worked fine on most of those available when I purchased the product.
- Would not play Hi Def formats (but once the video was reformatted down, played fine)

Other Thoughts: Loved this product. Am disappointed it's discontinued.

5 out of 5 eggsWD mini tv media player

Pros: FREAKING AMAZING as i use to simply hook up my laptop to my tv and play media from that.

Easy to use that my mom can use it which is why i got it. She cant use my laptop very well (newegg censored me).

Cons: Did not work right out of the box due to it being set to PAL instead of NTFS (needed for north America region technology and movies) witch gave it a flickering picture in black and white. It wasn't a Hertz problem, just a resolution problem..

Other Thoughts: i could just barely read the screen in its black/white flickering goodness. I scrolled around and found the settings option, then found the resolution setting and then clicked on Y PB Pr (green red blue cable hook up for hd) and it gave me the option for various NTFS and PAL settings. It was on PAL which caused my picture to not look right and suck. changed it from PAL NTFS and its FREAKING BEAUTIFUL.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked great, for a month

Pros: Played the format I use most, small.

Cons: Worked for one month, one day powered it up and the color was black and white with no sound, returned for an RMA replacement but it was discontinued.

Other Thoughts: I was never notified by phone or email that I wouldn't be getting another one of these from Newegg, nor was I offered a similar product as a replacement, I had to find out after it was too late and they had refunded my account.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat overall, but can have it's quarks

Pros: Plays alot of formats so easily.

Cons: Can be finicky with some 'files' off the internets. But, then again could be problems with associated with those 'files'

Other Thoughts: It's small, and kinda cute.

2 out of 5 eggsDoesn't play mp4

Pros: Easy to set up. Easy menu

Cons: Won't play mp4.

Other Thoughts: I tried about a dozen different mp4 codecs and this wouldn't play ANY of them. After searching through the support forum for WD, I found that this is a common complaint for this item and WD has not been helpful in resolving it. I was about ready to return this but I was finally able to get this to play an .avi file.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: It plays almost everything, scaling of lower resolution content to HD screen is flawless.

Cons: Port layout ... USB port should be at the front not side.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes most of it

Pros: -Excellent menu
-Fast boot
-Quick read and folder listing
-Automatic and fast previewing in menu list

Cons: -No MKV support
-Bulky plug-hogging power brick

Other Thoughts: Lack of MKV support doesn't constitute loss of an egg. Meet expectations of WD construction quality. Exceeded expectation in interface usability and elegance.
