Buzz

Great drive

5 out of 5 eggs
Have used it as a replacement in my ps3. Noticeably quicker install and load times. Well worth it for the space alone.

5 out of 5 eggsWD Internal HD

Pros: Excellent and Awesome HD! I purchased this WD Scorpio Black HD - 7200 RPM 16MB Cache Drive as an upgrade for my Acer laptop. I made the order in Feb. 2010 and the HD is still running smoothly and doesn't overheat. This was one of my concerns with the faster RPM speed. Prior to the upgrade, I had a much smaller drive that came with the laptop. The old drive was exceptionally slow and my OS was Windows Vista (the worst ever OS from Microsoft!). At the same time that I upgraded the HD to the WD Scorpio Black, I also upgraded to Windows 7 - 64 bit OS. The speed and performance of these 2 combined upgrades has improved my laptop's performance by 200% !! This was my 1st New Egg order. I work overseas & was back in the US in 2010 for a few months. I paid for the HD via Paypal. New Egg shipped my order quickly and efficiently to my daughter's address. I am now a commited New Egg customer and have made several orders since I made this order. Way to go New Egg!

Cons: No Cons!

Other Thoughts: Sorry to hear that this HD is no longer available. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for HD upgrade to laptops that are now 2 years old.

4 out of 5 eggsNice Drive For The Price

Pros: Sometimes new hard drives are bad. Happens all the time. Mfgrs can't thoroughly test EVERY drive that comes off the assembly line. I had to RMA my first drive. Thank you NEWEGG for making that an easy and fast process. They got me a second drive very quickly. I had no time constraints as this was an upgrade for my laptop. Cloned my old drive to this one - including a 40 GB Minux Lint part. Drive runs cool and fast. If first drive hadn't been bad I would've given 5 eggs. Glad I bought it when it was $80 'cause now they're $150. Yeeowch!

Cons: WD needs better QC.

Other Thoughts: Kudos to NEWEGG for quick turn around time on RMA.

1 out of 5 eggsBad on MacBook Pro 13"

Pros: Fast drive.

Cons: Purchased on 2-2011. The last month this HD has been rebooting on my MacBook Pro. I thought it was bad software. I swapped it out for another different hard drive the problem got fixed. I am now using it externally trying to encrypt the drive and it says, 20 hours remaining. Bingo! The drive is BAD.

Other Thoughts: I can not say with certainty if this is just a problem with Macs. But I am certain that it is bad drive.

2 out of 5 eggsPoor Track Record for me

Pros: Great price for the size

Cons: First one I got was DOA and I RMA'd it. Second one I received has not even had more then a few hours worth of run time and my laptop is saying that through the SMART drive system is notifying it that it is likely to fail soon. Have tried installing Windows 7 Ultimate on it twice, the first time it died after running updates, the second time it brings up the before mentioned warning. I intend to try this drive in my desktop before I waste my money trying to ship it to be replaced with likely another bad drive.

Other Thoughts: Used to have good luck with Western Digital, but it really seems that they have let their products go down hill. Likely going to have to try a different brand if it doesn't work in my other system.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 30 minutes

Pros: I paid for it, let it sit in its packaging untouched for a few months (I procrastinate). Finally went to clone my hd to this one, and failed after 30 minutes of writing. So the pro is that I found out this drive sucked quickly, instead of having it fail on me months later when I have important data saved on it.

Cons: The con is that this drive doesn't work for more than a half hour. So yeah.

Other Thoughts: Started clicking the hour it was connected.

5 out of 5 eggsWD Scorpio Black - Bulletproof

Pros: I bought this Drive In OCT 2009 for $59... 7200 RPM SATA was an incredible Boost in speed for my (Grey Haired) DELL D620... -2- Years later... It is Still blazing fast... NO ISSUES.. My biggest worry was that the laptop would BURN UP the HDD.. The Dell D620 can FRY EGGS... but it has NOT FRIED The Scorpio... I am truly Stunned regarding the VALUE and DEPENDABILITY...

Cons: ABSOLUTELY NONE... I just wish that WD built Cars ...

5 out of 5 eggsWD Still my favourite!

Pros: --In contrast to the 7200.3 I was using--
Quieter
Faster by about 15%
2C cooler (lol)
Solid feel, no rattling sound when shaken
Not advanced format (irritating if cloning)

Cons: Not QUITE as fast as I was hoping for
Although quiet, it isn't when compared to slower drives
Price is mediocre

Other Thoughts: 82 MB/sec avg transfer, 15ms access, 111mb/sec burst, 4.8% cpu
All according to HD Tune
