SAS Controllers?

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: Nice speed; but it is a 15K drive

Cons: SOme have been disapointed this does not work on a SATA controller.

Other Thoughts: Adaptec 4805 SAS controller PCI-e
Adaptec 4800 SAS Controller PCI-X Either runs SAS and SATA drives;)

Tech Level: high - Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Good performance, better than other 15k SCSI hard drives.

Cons: Controller cards are expensive and choice of SAS card with PCIe is very limited.

Other Thoughts: SAS controller cards are compatible with SATA hardrives. However, SATA controllers are not compatible with SAS.

Other Thoughts: Yes it is SAS and being SAS, it is not SATA or SATA compatible-- No more than MFM, RLL, SCSI, or PATA would be. SATA is SATA, SAS is SAS.
