5 out of 5 eggsWin 2K loads very fast

Pros: Bought and installed this second drive into my computer and installed Win 2K on it and it loads very fast. The first one has Win XP Pro on it and it too loads very quick. This one replaced a very slow and noisy Maxtor 8 gb HDD and it was worth every penny.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: My current configuration: 950 MHz Intel celeron, 512 Mb of ram and these two 40 gb 7200 rpm WD HDD's with Win XP Pro & 2K Pro. I am Planning on rebuilding this rig in the future to something more modern with a lot more power to boot. And all of the parts will definitely come from newegg.com.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Hard Drive For Cheap Price

Pros: This is a great hard drive if you are looking for a replacement drive or do not need that much space for just like work or something, 40 gigs isn't that big to me but for the price you can't beat this one, came packaged well and had no problems with it.

Cons: A bit noisy when first powered on but it seemed to hush after everything was running smoothly.

Other Thoughts: If the price is right, this is it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood value HDD

Pros: Good, cheap and fast HDD for the money, especially for computers/users who don't need alot of space

Cons: A bit noisy but possibly likely to the aluminum casing I put this into my folks Antec case. IDE is going the way of the dino, freaking slow in comparison to SATA.

Other Thoughts: Cheap fast and reliable drive for IDE uses. If you can go SATA, do it, if nothing more then less cable clutter.

5 out of 5 eggsGood Hard Drive

Pros: Decent hard drive for the price.

Cons: none as of yet.

Other Thoughts: Threw this drive in an old FreeBSD computer and has worked fine so far. Great drive if you need a small hard drive as a replacement, much faster then the drive that was originally installed. =)

5 out of 5 eggsGood HD

Pros: Good solid HD. Reads and writes pretty quick. THis is only a PATA model though. You can't expect faster, unless you go SATA.

Cons: None.

5 out of 5 eggsI have at least a dozen of these

Pros: I have bought well over a dozen of these in the past 5 or 6 years or so, for myself and for others' systems, and have never had a problem with them. Indeed, I have never had a problem with any WD HDD (including a couple of Raptors which I've also had for a few years, and a couple of other SATA drives.) Quiet, reliable, WD has some very useful utilities free on their website - just plain good stuff.

Cons: None that I can think of. I use these for my system drives, and a separate (larger) drive or SATA array for data, so these are more than big enough.

Other Thoughts: Nothing lasts forever (so I haven't had a problem with any WD HDD yet might be a better way to put it, but that's several drives for several years now, and going strong), take advantage of the WD utilities for initial testing, setup, and if need be, disk wiping, always back up your data, past performance is no indication of future results, your mileage may vary, etc etc.
