Western Digital Caviar RE WD2500SD 250GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Pros: WD, SATA, 250 Gigs. What more needs to be said? Massive storage for my videos, fast, quiet, and running cool. Absolutely no issues with mounting, formatting, or running them in my system. The speed has made editing videos a breeze! The cool running has allowed me to edit all day with the system temperature never going above 100 F! Now the cooling fans are the noiseist part of my system!

Cons: None.

Pros: Great for raid enviroments with dedicated controlers. On board contollers have minor issues in Dual Boot enviroments that mix Windows with Linux due to there being relatively new technology. But other wise great preformance for a SATA150 drive.

Cons: Ordered 2 a month half ago. Ordered 2 more 2 weeks or so ago and one died with a smart error with no warning. So I'm now back to a Raid 0 setup waiting for the new drive from WD.

Other Thoughts: Had to RMA 1 drive already. Still tring to figure out how another reviewer RMA'd via NewEgg when it states "This item is serviced by the Western Digital. Please call 800 832 4778 for service."

Pros: Fast & cheap. If only my computer was as fast and reliable as Newegg.

Cons: I have one bad out of five ordered. Other comments indicate a possible high initial mortality rate.

Other Thoughts: Hope this one isn't the new "Death Star" (remember that one?) drive. Kudos to Newegg's best-in-class RMA process.

Cons: ? reliability, ordered 5 drives 1/5 was DOA.

Other Thoughts: Will have to see about long term reliability. They are rated for 24/7 use. Using in a RAID 5 setup. Has a 5 yr warranty. Became another person with a DOA drive (1 out of 5 ordere), started a loud clicking (click of death) and refused to be recognized. Newegg is taking care of it. Wondering about WD quality controls? Traditionally prefer Seagates (most reliable for me), but their Nearline type drives are quite a bit more. Most people who have problems with these per comments, have them right away, they are DOA. Hope that is the case for me as well.

Pros: Has both power connectors styles, SATA and old school style.

Cons: DOA, very loud click click click.

Other Thoughts: WD Advanced RMA submitted with no issues, awaiting replacement part. New review will come when replacement arrives.

Pros: Perhaps not the fastest, but certainly fast enough in a Infrant ReadyNAS NV, which will be running 24x7. Very quiet, priced right (even lower price today!). 5 year warranty is a plus.

Cons: None that comes to mind.

Pros: INEXPENSIVE.
HUGE.
WESTERN DIGITAL.
SATA/RAID.
SILENT.
WARRANTY.

Cons: Nothing, the perfect HD.

Other Thoughts: This thing accesses data fast, complies with my system NO PROBLEM and is super huge. Can't wait to get another!

Pros: I love this Hard Drive. I went ahead and bought two of them and set them up in a RAID0 array. 500GB is more than i know what to do with, and they are fast. I can barely hear them and they didn't add any heat to my system.

Cons: What cons?

Pros: Received RMA immediately. I shipped Monday and received refund back in my charge card account next Monday.

Cons: Drive arrived broken.

Pros: Nice, quiet, fast. And a five year warranty. Using in Asus motherboard RAID array with on board Promise controller.

Cons: None.
