5 out of 5 eggsNo more back up disks,,,

Pros: So easy to set up and use. I am very happy with this device - it's quiet, simple and was very cheap. I read the reviews before I bought and now think that some of the previous reviewers were really picking nits. With 250 Gig and small size, I can back up files at the office and all of my old computers. The USB2 is very fast, this is a great device if you have to creat back-up frequently and have large volumes of data.

Cons: Everything is fine so far...

Other Thoughts: Ordered and received in about 2 days. I haven't used the auot back up options yet, but everything on this gadget is easy to use.

4 out of 5 eggsGood drive, but cannot work with USB card

Pros: It works fine on the built-in USB port with Windows 2000 and XP. No driver is required. Performance is excellent.

Cons: My PC has the Lacie USB 2.0 card. This drive cannot be recognized if it is connected to the USB card. I confirmed it from WDC's website.

5 out of 5 eggsA Complete No Brainer

Pros: I've got 4 PCs and wanted to combine all of the info onto my newsest. I looked at getting external cases, but when I saw this 250GB for only $xx, it satisfied all of my needs for less money.

I found it easy to use, quiet, cool-running and am very, very happy with it. I ordered it and it was on my desk in two days.

Cons: No cons

Other Thoughts: If The Graduate were being made today, the key word wouldn't ne "Plastics", it would be "Storage"...

4 out of 5 eggsWhines Constantly

Pros: 1. Good price and free shipping.
2. Western Digital quality.

Cons: This HD has a constant whine while powered on. After one month, I still have not been able to tune it out while working on my computer. In hindsight, I would spend a few more bucks on a different 250GB WD model.

Other Thoughts: Although the power cord is loose, it has not had any adverse affect with my usage.

4 out of 5 eggsrepost

Pros: I wrote before how newegg sent me a faulty product, but they were able to take care of me afterwards. They reimbursed my shipping and sent me a working EHD. I'm completely satisfied with the product.

Cons: Nothing's wrong with it except the power cord is loose. I knew it before I bought it so it doesn't bother me.

Other Thoughts: New Egg will take care of you if something goes sour

4 out of 5 eggsBackup and VM drive

Pros: Plug and play -- even with Linux (FC4). The USB or Firewire option is nice, though I prefer USB 2.0. At the time of this review, the drive is priced at $xxx -- that is a great deal. I don't use the backup software, it is just a place, off my computer, to put valuable files. I even run virtual machines stored ON the drive and they run acceptably.

Cons: I'm going to nitpick.
- The power button needs to be held down for about 10 (long) seconds to shut this off.
- The power cord has a tendency to come unplugged if the drive is moved/jostled too much (but why would you be doing that?).
- It vibrates pretty noticably (I suspect rubberized feet/padding would silence that).
- The plastic casing feels cheap; though I've transported it 10+ times over the last year and narry a crack to show for it.

Other Thoughts: Overall, I'm looking at this $xxx price and seriously considering a second one. I have my eye on an ioMega option for $xx more, but for a $xx savings, I know what I'd get with this and I would be pleased.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: supports usb and firewire at the same time, works like a usb hub (2 ports), comes with hardware to allow vertical arrangement or stacking.

Cons: Power cord is kinda loose, so don't move it around while transferring files.

Other Thoughts: was a great deal, I'm jumping on it again if it goes back on sale and stacking them.
