Pros: I purchased another of these drives because I have been very satisfied with the first one. It is very reliable and performs to my expectation. I use the first drive as a backup drive on my Windows machine. The second purchase will be a backup drive for my MAC machine. I can power it off, disconnect it without powering off with no ill effect. A great drive.

Solid backup drive

Other Thoughts: I am adding this to my aging Athlon XP 3200 system to hold media. This external unit is my 2nd, the 1st being a Maxtor 1-touch II 250GB. I use the Maxtor as a dedicated backup drive, and have 2 internal Maxtors -- one for OS, one for data.

This drive is quiet and fast. The power transformer has an extension plug so it only occupies 1 plug on the UPS. It comes formatted in FAT32, so I reformatted to NTFS, which took about 1 hour. Nice drive -- I can recommend it.

Very happy with the product

Pros: The drive runs very silent and cool. Can't comment on the USB 2.0, but the FireWire runs without problems. Spins down automatically when not in use. I'm using Windows 2000 Server.

Cons: Non so far.

Other Thoughts: I haven't tried the backup software yet.
