Solid, good drive
- Pros: Good install, decent performance (compared to 7200 RPM drives), 16MB buffer (instead of 8MB), good manufacturer reputation.
- Cons: None except that it isn't free. :)
- Other Thoughts: This was purchased as an upgrade for an internal drive for a laptop. Since that laptop was exchanged for a better one, this drive ended up in an el-cheapo external drive enclosure (may upgrade this at some point). But it's performing beautifully as a carry-with backups drive. And the wonderful thing about 2.5" drive enclosures is that they get power from the USB connection, so no wall wart, and it works with your laptop even when everything's running off battery. VERY slick. And a good buy!
- Pros: Quiet and fast.
- Cons: I started getting blue screens after ~15 months of use with this HDD. A few days later the drive started making clicking noises and soon after that it died. The machine doesn't even detect the HDD half the time when I run Dell's diags, and when it does, it won't boot from it.
- Other Thoughts: I probably got a dud. 15 months is ok, but STILL. Good thing I had everything backed up.
good deal
- Pros: This is a great drive, really works well. It's very quiet compared to my old one, and the speed is great.
