4 out of 5 eggsDoes what it needs to do

Pros: Plug and play setup, interesting setup with 3 different partitions that can be activated by 3 different buttons on top of the unit.

Personally, I didn't even bother with the software, just formatted it as one partition to do data-dumps. But for the newcomer the software would definately come in handy.

As always ordered on a weekend, received it a business day or two later. Newegg rocks!

Cons: USB 2.0 = Slow and cannot compare to 1394 whatsoever...

Other Thoughts: You could technically build an enclosure with a larger capacity hard drive with USB And/Or Firewire for cheaper, but you are paying for the software, ease of use, and the support.

5 out of 5 eggsCheap Insurance

Comments: This is so worth the money. I purchased 3 of these for self, friends, and familly. Its word it if you get the calls from friends when their HD's crash. Easy one button operation.

4 out of 5 eggs

Comments: Very easy to use on an XP system, truly a plug and play device. The only downside is the tri-select software. It becomes time consuming if you wish to back up more than a few files. But with the other backup software (Dantz Retrospect)it becomes much easier. Haven't had a problem with any read/writes off of it yet. Also this product is expandable. The manual shows how to disassemble and put in a new hard drive. Wait for the warranty to expire though before performing this action. The vertical stand also cuts down on desk space used, though the actual drive seems larger than most.
