2 out of 5 eggsbe careful...

Pros: Um...

Cons: I used this for 2 or 3 months and then the USB connector on the drive broke off into the unit. Sent for RMA, hopefully doesn't happen again. Seems like kinda faulty craftsmaship.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome little device

Pros: I use it for work weekly to transport customer files to their locations. It pretty quiet and the best part about it is that it doesn't need extra power to run. Just plug it in and away you go.

Cons: It doesn't come with a wall power adapter, but like I said, unless your usb isn't putting out enough juice...you should be fine.

1 out of 5 eggsBAD HD, DON'T BUY IT

Pros: NOTHING IS GOOD

Cons: I bought this external HD and it worked only once. I placed some very small files onto it (less than 100MB). When I tried to export the file, it says that the file is corrupted. Now the computers would not even recognize the drive (tried it with 30 computers in lab), and send it back to IOGEAR. I paid for shipping postage, and they just send it back, WITHOUT FIXING ANYTHING. The thing is still broken, and they tell me to ship it back, at my own cost again. Or i can try to buy a power adapter, plug into the wall, and see what is wrong. If i want a wired HD, i would not buy this. And customer representative just tells you to send it back, but THEY DO NOT FIX IT AT ALL!!! They just ship it back to you, without doing anything.

Other Thoughts: DON"T BUY THIS DRIVE. IT IS REALLY BAD. The tech support people just keep passing you through because they don't want to give you an RMA#, but they cannot help you either. They just transfer you to the next person, and the next person transferred to the next again....

5 out of 5 eggsgreat drive

Pros: I'm very pleased with this drive-- it's the most manageable 40 GB I've ever used. Power handled via the USB port, so no second-cord hassle. The size is great; even fits into pants pocket.

Cons: -

5 out of 5 eggsNice Little Drive

Pros: Runs quietly for the most part; and has two settings, one for speed transfers, and another for long-term storage. Cost is amazing considering you get 40 gigs. Needs no power supply as far as my needs went.

Cons: Did not come with pictured additional power supply cord, but didn't matter for me, as it was powered suficiently through the USB.

Other Thoughts: Definately worth the money in the place of a little usb key drive.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: The drive performance is quite good, as fast or faster then a memory drive. The storage for the money is a real find, about the same price as a 1gb memory drive. I did not need any external power and overall this is a really good buy.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice...

Comments: This is a very nice, very small hard drive. I was going to replace my USB flash keydrive, and discovered these. 40x the space for just a handful more dollars. Works great on a desktop/tower system, but when I plugged it into my Gateway 200ARC laptop, it would not work. The light came on, but Windows couldn't find it. Plugged a power adapter into the little sucker, and Windows finally recognized it.

Evidentily some laptop USB ports don't provide it with enough power to run. Thats the only problem I have it with it, however... it is fast, reliable, and a great value for the money. I've bought IOGEAR stuff in the past, and will continue to do so.

5 out of 5 eggsUsing this on a mac

Comments: I'm a PC and Mac user. This worked great on PC with no driver needed. However on a Mac you need the driver AND you have to plug it into the back of the mac NOT into the keyboard's usb.
