Excellent Budget Drive
- Pros: Price. You cannot beat the price. It is one of (if not the) most quite External drives I have ever purchased. It runs cold (and I have it running 24/7). Amazing buffer and read/write speeds. Plug and Play (with WinXP). Preformatted and partitioned.
You can't ask for much more. It is an excellent drive and it looks good too.
- Cons: It doesn't have a one click backup button or anything of that matter. And despite being whisper quite, every few hours it will spin up when not being used (which is somewhat normal).
And the USB connecter is a tad ugly (it is green and a tad large, which to me is silly considering they put a lot of work into making it look very slick).
But these are all amazingly trivial things.
- Other Thoughts: Contrary to what another has said, this drive came formatted as NTFS. Not Fat32. No repartitioning or formatting was required. It was entirely plug and play. Another note, the instructions state that it is only compatible with Norton Ghost 2003, but I have it working with Norton Ghost 10 (which is newer). Further, I imagine it works fine with Norton Save & Restore (Norton has dropped the Ghost line in favor of S&R).
Oh and, to get it on the standing mount, be sure the screws are only loosely tightened before you try to slide it in. It took me a while to figure this out.
Oh and, Newegg got it to me in no less than two and a half days. I payed for standard ground. Love you Newegg.
Great ExHD
- Pros: Extremely quite, Doesn't run too hot if you turn it off at night when your not using it, Huge amount of space, great for the price.
- Cons: Come formatted to fat32, so you gotta reformat it to ntfs if you use windows, which took me 2 hours. Kinda short power Cord, but unless your trying to put it on the other side of the house form your comp, should Be fine.
- Other Thoughts: Newegg is absolutely awesome, shipped it within the hour, got here the next day on 3 day shipping.
Great External Drive
- Pros: Great External hard drive, always cool, quiet as a fantom (lol). easy plug and play.
- Cons: Power cable cord could have been longer. Maybe the power button in front, and fire wire.
