4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great idea, good for what i use it for.

Cons: If you are typing at any speed, it just dosnt work that well. Though for a strickt HTPC it works fine, all i use it for is navigation of the start menu and some IM'ing. The mouse is useless!

Other Thoughts: UPS "3" day shipping took 9 days. NEVER WILL I EVER ORDER ANYTHING UPS, EVEN IF IT IS FREE!

3 out of 5 eggsHandy, but not great.... strickly optional!

Comments: Keyboard funtion works fine, and looks better than a standard keyboard/mouse on a coffee table.

But.... the mouse replacement thingy... would have gone for a trackball myself... And a bit pricey... and still larger than it needs/could be....

4 out of 5 eggsgood start

Comments: Excellent concept, implementation is about 90%. Hopefully next version addresses both the mouse-substitute and IR's range. If you can afford to wait for revised version, please do.

3 out of 5 eggsClose....

Comments: The IR thing is a little iffy. Does not work well in a bed enviroment as the blanket or pillow get in the way. The built in mouse was hard to get used yoo but was funtional as a backup if you misplaced your cordless. I dont think anyone would want to use it full time. For a good HTPC keyboard try the Logitech MX 5000. Range is great.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Keyboard but...

Comments: ... TERRIBLE integrated mouse pointer.
Also, if this keyboard isn't detected by your motherboard, go into the bios settings and change from HALT ON ALL ERRORS to HALT ON ALL BUT KEYBOARD.

Now let's hope Microsoft will come out with a wireless mouse which will be compatible with the remote's wireless receiver... that would be GREAT!

Last but not least, about NewEgg.com: Simply the best.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's not a Media Center without it!

Comments: The is a perfect keyboard for your Media Center PC. The only thing I don't like about it is the integrated mouse, I never was a fan of the nub style mice. I would have preferred the ball style like on the Media Center keyboards that come with the HP's...But it's still a fantastic keyboard.

4 out of 5 eggsgood stuff

Comments: This is a great keyboard if you have a HTPC running XP-MCE. One minor issue I have is with the mouse button. I am a longtime ThinkPad user and I think Microsoft was trying to make it like ibm’s trackball. There may have been some patent issues that MS did not want to deal with because it is not as user friendly as the trackball. That being said, it gets better with time. I have had the keyboard for two months and the mouse loosens up a bit as time goes on. The learning feature for sound is awesome just wish it could learn mute as well. It has a good weight to it, it doesn’t feel cheap at all like some wireless keyboards can. And the wireless is awesome; I have had no problems with it. My only major issue is that my PC does not recognize it before windows initializes, so you can’t use it in the bios.

2 out of 5 eggsThe mouse is a joke.

Comments: I currently have 2 MCE 2005 systems going in my house. I have been using the RF Verspoint keyboards without a problem. When I saw Microsoft had a Media Center Keyboard, I thought, wow, an integrated keyboard would be perfect. This way I wouldnt need my MCE remote close by.
The keyboard looks great. First off, its IR, not RF, so it must be line of site at all times.
Having the Media Center Keys on it are great.
The MOUSE IS A MESS. I really wonder when it was being tested, why they didnt see that the mouse just does not work. Just opening a webpage, or moving the cursor is a task with this keyboard.

I am going back to my Versa Point. Sadly it may not look as cool, but at least there is a lot of thought behind the engineering.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: I initially accidently bought the French version of this keyboard, and the layout was different enough, so I exchanged it. The only complaint that I have is the pointing device, which is really hard to use. I wound up getting a wireless mouse that when I need to do a lot of pointing.
