4 out of 5 eggs4 eggs Magnifico

Pros: It is a pretty thing. If you like your white Ipod than you will adore this beast. I have about 30 monitors in the office and this on is the best color and cleaity-wise. It is, in a word...Crisp!

Cons: NO OSD, stupid Samsung, the color correction and all monitor controls are run from a program. it is a real pain, but once it is set up, I haven't changed it. I would love to tweak the adjustments a little more.

Other Thoughts: Good monitor, can work well in a lighted office as well as a darker room. The color is great, and it can be looked at easily for 9 hours with out to much eye fatigue.

Pros: Very "pretty" monitor. Works well. Nice display, LOVE the port location for the connections, no more hanging wires.

Cons: Make sure your vid card is compatible. If it isn't, you're not using their software. And the adjustments are software only, no buttons on the monitor...

Other Thoughts:
that's the compatibility site.

4 out of 5 eggsVery Nice - but no video control - all software

Pros: Very nice LCD for the money. Easy to physically set up, comes with both DVI to DVI cable and DVI to D Sub cable even though the specs nor the online manual do not say it has the DVI-DVI cable. This is a nice cost saving. I use a LCD at work but this is a home replacement for a 17 inch 4 year CRT. Much nicer size that the 17 inch CRT. Rotate feature is pretty nice especially when working on text. I'm not a gamer just a worker so this monitor meets all my needs.

Cons: Video quality does not match the old CRT but I have not found the LCDs to meet the quality of a CRT so perhaps this is not a slam on this specific monitor - just LCDs in general. My real complaint is all the video adjustments are software based. The instructions for the software are not clear at all, sure would be nice if vendors would ask someone who knows the native language to proof read their manuals. Been screwing around with the video adjustments for the last week and still can't get it to look right. Sopftware instructions are hopeless. The video is OK immediately after Windows shows the desktop and then it makes an adjustment which kills the contrast and blacks out dark areas in photos. Maybe after another 5 hours of frustration I'll get it right. Probably best bet is to not install the "Magic Tune" software and leave it to the video card to adjust from there.

Other Thoughts: After all this I'd still recommend this monitor to anybody looking for a simple plug and go monitor who is not too picky on the video qualityu and will not plan to use the software adjustments that come with the monitor.
I'm running this on a rather old computer but do not suspect it is the reason for the poor ability to adjust video.

Computer is:
AMD Athlon 1300
1 GB Ram (PC133)
NVIDA GeForce4 MX 440 w/ AGP8X

5 out of 5 eggsSuperb

Pros: I shopped around a lot for a good monitor that could be easily adjusted, and finally decided on this one. This is by far the best monitor I have seen to date. Excellent color and britghtness, and it can easily be tilted up and down, or rotated. As for those who have reported ghosting, I have experienced absolutely zero; playing FEAR, Half Life 2, and Oblivion at 1280*1024 it displays them perfectly.

Cons: The white color takes a little getting used to......but it grows on you. No manual adjustment buttons, all software based.

Other Thoughts: You don't actually need to install the drivers or adjustment software, xp recognizes it without a hiccup. I was so impressed with this monitor I ordered a second for my dad.

5 out of 5 eggsGhosting? Yeah right...This thing is nice

Pros: This monitor has one of the best pictures I've seen. Everything is crisp & clear. Text looks good, colors are great(once you set it to your own preferences), and it plays games great. Price is unbelievable for the quality of this monitor. I was looking at the more expensive Samsungs, but decided to go with this one since it looked like such a good deal. Turns out it was.

Cons: It's white so, may look a little odd with most desktops that are darker colors, mine included.

No controls on the monitor itself, which means no on the fly adjustment, but that's rarely needed anyways.

The stand is slightly bigger than my old one, so it's a bit closer than I'm used to, again though, this is just a personal con.

Other Thoughts: For those who complained about ghosting, you must have your settings out of whack, because even with my old 256MB Radeon 9800+ Pro this thing doesn't ghost any more in WoW or Call of Duty 2 than any other decent-priced monitor.

Also note, it may not say it in the specs, but the monitor does come with both DVI to DVI and DVI to VGA cables. Save money, don't buy extras.

Also, NEWEGG ROCKS! 2 day shipping for the win!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Monitor, Awesome Price. Worth a lot more than you paid for =)

Pros: After many months of drooling over this monitor (and hoping it'd go on sale), i've gone and bought this sweet little LCD. After initially being scared after reading reviews about severe ghosting and dead pixels on arrival, i am happy to say that all my pixels are alive and well, and i have not experienced any ghosting (after watching numerous action dvds) even on my 5200 series nvidia video card.
After many months of my half-finished computer sitting boxed, in the corner of my room, it is now near finished, and this monitor is the PERFECT item to top this puppy off.
Unlike many other lcd monitors, which look thin from the front, yet are actually about 4 inches thick when turned sideways, this one is only about 1 inch thick! Very aesthetic, SAMSUNG across the back. it's very bright, no need to mess with buttons, it auto-adjusts. Just turn on the monitor once, and when you turn ur computer off, it turns itself off, and the power light doesnt blink!

Cons: -makes me wanna be on the computer all the time.
-i have to wipe off excess kiss-marks from it at the end of the night.
-makes me hate my old monitor on my other computer, which is a huge crt and takes up all my deskspace.
-took forever to get here...NOT! It actually took LESS time than expected. i guess i just wanted it to do an "instant transport" to my front door.
-all my bros wanna use my computer; hard to say no

-although not noted in the specs, all necessary connecting cables are included.
-very low price here on newegg (not to mention awesome service). search for this monitor on the internet and you'll find it anywhere else triple the price even withOUT shipping and tax.
-if you are having problems with ghosting, consider upgrading your videocard. keep in mind that higher memory/gpu = better quality picture. (ex: aim for 512mb). also what helped me out, was reading up on how to buy a video card and/or monitor prior to buying one.

5 out of 5 eggsJust ordered my SECOND 960BF

Pros: This LCD is a steal at the new price. It is very attractive; looks and feels like it cost twice as much. The colors are very vivid and bright. It has a fairly wide view (only 971P is better). Text is crisp. "No controls" is a huge plus; Looks better, and you do not need! Default settings are very good, and any PC/video card less than 10yrs old has these settings ready to go. Anyone can right click on their desktop, choose Properties, Settings, Advanced, Color, there it all is: Brightness, Contrast, and color/rotate settings. This only takes a second to learn, and you will prob. only adj the bright a bit if you have a room that fluxuates a lot, or to rotate it 90. Is also very thin, with no rear vents = low power usage (like a PVA, barely gets warm). You don't see many this attracive (side and rear included). This LCD "games" fine with the DVI hookup and any decent Video card. All games are diff., some may look worse, but I found none bad (Half Life, MotoGP, COD). Base is well weighted.

Cons: You can always find a point in a 3D game where you can make a close view of something "ghost" like mad if you whip your mouse back and fro. This is basically true with all LCD's. Diff. color combos cause more/less of this. Compared to other LCD's, this one has mild ghosting/halos/trails that most would not notice. You can watch animated or standard DVD movies, no prob. I watched a F-1 race off a mpg2/dvd, and it was fine. No stutter, some trails on occasion (using my kid's OLD ATI AIW7500 64MB DVI). It has a bit of a blue bias, but I prefer that temp myself.

Other Thoughts: You will be glad you bought this LCD. Again, don't install this (or any) monitor software. When your system detects new hardware, insert the CD, and direct it to the driver for your OS (WinXP, etc.). Later, go to your desktop, display props, and look to see that all is kosher (will show your awesome new Sammy 960BF, and its digital converter). Learn to easily change settings via your video card. Both DVI & analog cables are included, plus a DVI/analog converter plug if you need it.

5 out of 5 eggsNew LOW price!

Pros: This monitor is now a quite a deal. Price has been cut by another $50. All LCD's ghost a little. This one just pushes the overdrive a bit. You can game on this LCD.

Cons: After looking at Samsung LCD's at Newegg for over 3 months, I finally ordered this model since I really needed silver to match all my cases. A few hours after placing my order, I was quite shocked to see a huge $50 price cut was posted.

Other Thoughts: I asked Newegg if they would honor the new price since the monitor hadn't even shipped out yet. They waited 1-1/2 days to reply, and told me tough, return it if I don't want it. Pretty sad considering I have spent over $xxxx here. Now I can wait a week or so to get it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: The Samsung 960BF is a stylish monitor that delivers a bright, sharp image. The screen pivot is also a nice feature for reading lengthy documents.

Cons: The accompanying software, as with most hardware vendor applications, is ugly to assuming. It's as if the vendor expects your system's entire existence is for the support of their peripheral. Fortunately for me, Catalyst (ATI) can handle configuration of the monitor well enough.

Other Thoughts: It would have been nice if I could have the dynamic screen rotation functions without having muck up my system with Samsung's aggressive software. As it is, though, I can flip the screen with one keystroke.
