Put Full HD 1080p on your desktop with the VX2233wm from ViewSonic. This 21.5" screen supports the full 1920x1080 resolution so watching movies on your desk has never looked better. The resolution would mean nothing without being able to handle the input signal. That's why ViewSonic put an HDCP compliant DVI-D port on it as well as the standard D-Sub connector.
A dynamic contrast ratio of 18,000:1 and a 300cd/m² brightness rating deliver spectacular image quality. The picture will be stutter free thanks to the 5ms response time. The panel has an anti-glare surface to keep the picture bright and even in all lighting conditions.
You don't have to worry about the environment with this monitor. It is Energy Star compliant and when in Eco mode is uses 40% less power than normal. The VX2233wm also meets RoHS and EPEAT Silver certifications for hazardous materials and environmental concerns.
Pros: I couldn't find any reviews on the 'net regarding this model, but it had the features I was looking for and I've historically had good results with Viewsonic products, so I decided to risk getting this panel. Here's what I found:
* This monitor seems to have a good mix of features for a relatively low price. * It supports 'Full-HD' resolution (1920x1080) which is a step up from other 19" and 22" panels. This is a 16:9 aspect ratio panel instead of the more common 16:10. * I had zero dead pixels on the unit I received. * The unit has a DVI-D connector and standard D-SUB VGA connector, as well as a stereo-mini-jack audio input. * Also includes a full set of color adjustments, as well as an sRGB mode. * Package includes a full set of cables.
Cons: * This thing is *shiny*. The stand and bezel are glossy black, so I expect fingerprints and dust to be an issue. * Also the buttons are placed on the right edge of the panel so they take a little getting used to. * In sRGB mode, there is a fairly noticeable band of backlight bleed across the top edge of the display. * For some reason, Viewsonic decided not to put a cable tidy ring on the back of the stand. No a biggie to me, but could be to some.
Other Thoughts: * Putting the display into one of the other color modes (I prefer 7500K, with brightness turned down to 10-20) the backlight bleed along the top is not noticable. * Note: manufacturer specs can be a little vague. This is a 6-bit panel with Viewsonic's 'HiFRC' dithering. As far as I can tell the color reproduction looks fine. * Also note: this monitor includes hidden 2-watt stereo speakers. I didn't even bother to connect them.

Pros: This is a great monitor at a good price. Works as advertised, no dead pixels.
Cons: $30 Rebate? Sure, if you like doing your federal tax retrurn you're gonna love Viewsonic's rebate process. First you have to go online and enter all of your information (and I do mean ALL) at Viewsonics website. Then you have to print that out, fill out the paper form with all that information again, print your Eghed invoice, and scrape the UPC off the carton. My Eghed friends were nice enough to put a big gluey sticker right over the UPC, so I had to carefully scrape that off to be able to see the info Viewsonic wanted. Oh yeah and be sure to photocopy it all in case Viewsonic screws up, then stuff it in an envelope and send. But If you screw up then its no deal, no rebate. OK, I can understand that Viewsonic wants to avoid fraud but this is ridiculous. It's a good half hours work, and a real turn off. Heaven forbid something goes wrong with the monitor, I can't imagine what the warranty process must be like if a simple rebate is this difficult.
Other Thoughts: Seems Eghed does not like having their name explicitly mentioned in comments...

Pros: Everything but the functioning LCD screen looks nice.
Cons: Connected (via VGA) to an older Dell Laptop (2006) only to receive a message stating that the monitor was "Out of Range." I followed the trouble shooting guide through various options and nothing would fix it. I sent an email to Viewsonic explaining the problem and asking for a solution, and have yet to hear from them; don't know if I will. Connected to a firend's newer computer (built this year) via DVI, and it worked fine.
Other Thoughts: I'm sure the picture is great, but I'm having no luck using it as a second monitor to my older laptop. But it is a great black screen to add some contrast to the wood desk.

Pros: Good price (especially at the time), 1920x1080 is good for movies, comes with DVI cable
Cons: No longer a great value when compared to other monitors of higher quality. Massive backlight flickering after a few months of use. Customer service is a PITA to deal with. Lots of stuck pixels appeared a few months after purchase.
Other Thoughts: I'm revising my review on this monitor (that my fiance bought me for my birthday back in November) because it has just been replaced by the HP w2338h. Backlight flickering became difficult to stare at when working on all day, stuck pixels were immediately apparent, and getting the unit repaired seemed like more trouble than it was worth. So now it is being used as a TV replacement in my fiance's office. I'd look at other options in the future.

Pros: great good speed great features low price, looks very nice in gaming and watching movies just gotta get a blu ray player now no dead pixels so far
Cons: well i bought this from another store which the price was 179 then it went from that to 239 cuz i bought extended warranty and dumb other stupid taxes from california so ya i was a little shocked but otherwise great.
Other Thoughts: my system: mobo gigabyte ep45 ud3p core2duo e7200 oc 3.20 ghz 4x1gb ddr2 800 ocz xfire edition 500gb hdd 7200 rpm 1 regular dvd player 1 hd 4670 1gb gddr3 this monitor killer nic m1 gaming network card.
next system build lookin for core i7 but too much for me rite now..
