Poor Design
- Pros: Comfortable, compact, and lightweight. NiMH batteries last about 3-4 weeks between charges. Acceptable sound quality and noise cancellation. Nice carrying case.
- Cons: Rats nest of cables, cumbersome battery pack/electronics. The cables are weak and difficult to replace. I had to replace the cable between the battery pack and player after 9-months of regular usage. It was like soldering twine together due to the type of wire used in the design. The cable to the headpiece started going out a couple months later so I replaced the Sennheisers with a JVC HA-NC250 which is a better design in my opinion. The electronics are built into the headset and the cable is detachable and easily replaced.
- Other Thoughts: The PXC250 is a $50 headset at best. The design would benefit from detachable cables instead of hardwired so they can be easily replaced when they wear out.
Great for the price, but...
- Pros: Small, compact and lightweight. NC does the job for me. Sound quality is is good, not being an audiophile they sound great to me.
- Cons: Besides what has been said about the NC device being a little large (really does not bother me) I find that I can not wear these for over 4 hours with out some discomfort. I only use them on plane trips and being that I live in Germany and travel to the states frequently I wish they were a little more comfortable. Other than that, they are great.
- Other Thoughts: I found these on-sale for $50. At that price I can live with the discomfort and only need to take a break from wearing them the entire plane ride.
Pretty Good. For the Price, Fantastic.
- Pros: $80 sale price is great.
Portable. Fold up nicely. Great carrying pouch. The jack is thin... don't you owners of older iPhones need that? Light weight and nicely cushy. Works like regular headphones when batteries are dead! No real difference from the 300 model (except price), I read in my research.
- Cons: The battery dongle is awkward. But better that than in the earphones.
The fold-out earpads are a bit wobbly feeling, but it does stay in place. Imperfect noise cancellation... but then aren't they all? ;-)
- Other Thoughts: If you haven't used a NC headset before, it's only killing the low-end steady-state noise, leaving high-end hiss behind. This is oddly more noticeable, but then only when you're not listening to music, etc. It won't kill conversations etc. either, but it does certainly dampen them. I'll often wear them without music just to lessen the fan noise and near-by chatter.
Someone mentioned wi-fi interference. I've never noticed this, and I'm sitting right next to my 3-antennae transmitter.
The dongle can seem to pick up "thumping" or heavy vibration (try tapping it). I think this is just the result of electrical noise in the battery contacts. This really isn't ever an issue; I just mention it because I originally wasn't sure if that's where the NC mic was (which would have been a bad design choice). I called their tech support to ask. They said it was probably just the battery moving and that I should stop thumping it. ;-)
