Get a competitive edge with Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset. Co-developed with Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel, this headset is designed specifically for gamers to give them a definite edge over the competition.
Take your gaming audio to the next level. Know where your enemies are at all times. Sound Blaster X-Fi technology delivers flawless audio and positional 3D effects. The Creative Fatal1ty is lightweight and has a padded adjustable headband for a tailored fit. Circum-aural design cancels out ambient noise reception while the microphone delivers clear commands during gaming or chatting.
Simple plug and play technology will have you up and gaming in minutes. Convenient in-line volume and microphone control allow you to adjust sound to your preference. Hear the frag-fest, the symphony, or even your friend that lives out of state, in tones so rich and clear you would swear you are in the same room.
Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: more than 1 year
Pros: The overall sound is very crisp and clear with a nice deep bass, gunshots have a nice pop and music actually doesn't sound bad.
The headset is also very comfortable, I wore mine for hours on end (9-12 hours at a time sometimes) and never had an issue. The velvet earcup and head padding works well and doesn't slip or itch at all.
The microphone picks things up clearly, being you have the wind/breath guard on it. If not it will pick up a lot of unwanted background noise.
Fatal1ty logos are kept to a minimum, with only one of each can and his signature on the left hand side, which is great. Very tasteful design.
In-line volume and mute is always a plus.
Very durable piece of equipment, it lasted me one year and one week exactly. Even then, it was just the left can cutting in and out every now and then. The right can and microphone work fine, this is actually the only reason I'm buying a new set.
The included carrying bag is pretty neat.
Cons: The microphone doesn't flip up at all, although it can be taken off. I found it troublesome at first that I to watch to not knock the microphone around, although I did get used to it.
The velvet on the earcups and headband will, undoubtedly, collect lint and dust after a while.
The clip on the in-line volume island is a bit weak. Mine broke off in the first week or so.
I would have much preferred a braided cord over the normal straight and smooth one.
The cord is a little loose, even new, which, although it's not a real issue, is annoying and made me think it had a slightly lower build quality.
The microphone can be removed, although this may be a pro for some, for me it's just an unnecessary thing and another moving part that can bust on me. I would have preferred a microphone that rotates.
My set makes a popping noise over the microphone whenever I mute or unmute it while my friend's will echo every sound his computer makes while it's muted. It may well be out sound
Other Thoughts: I treated the set very nicely, I only ran over the cord once or twice with my chair and it never was dropped or thrown around. The two plugs took a pretty hard hit from my chair more than once though, they bent a little bit, but plugged it and worked just the same, with no sound degradation.
I'm not a huge audiophile, and I used this for all of sound. Movies, games, and music. I though it's sound great on all of them, the positional sound worked well with games and didn't affect games or movies.
I use no special soundcard, just the onboard with my chipset (Intel x38 express)
Like I said, this set survived just over a year with me, then the left ear started cutting in and out. It's nothing bad and I fixed it by taping the cord up to the earcup, but, I'm still switching it out for a new one. All-in-all, it's very durable.

Wonderful

Pros: Wonderful headset, it fits perfectly and the sound quality of the mic is very good. The mic is very flexable and the head can rotate a bit which can make it look like the mic doesn't work, see my other thoughts for how to fix it.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: If your having problems with people hearing you do the following: take off the foam cover, rotate the mic head so the side that has round holes is facing you when you have the headset on, then replace the foam cover.

Pros: Great mic quality I don't sound drowned out or crackle like I have with other mics, and had to turn my Vent settings down a bit from my USB mics settings though sound card plays a huge role in that (+20Db boost Off record settings at 50%). Very comfortable around the ear and top of the head, velvet so won't sweat like vinyl. Decent bass.. Bass didn't become distorted when I turned the bass up on the EAX. I was hearing sounds and notes that my 5.1 surround speakers wasn't producing, like higher highs, which came out crisper. Electric guitar sounds sweet. Cable seems long enough, PC on floor Power button out of arms reach, huge Thermaltake Soprano case and sound card on bottom slot. Volume control is smooth and no static when adjusting, no popping noise when I mute mic either.
Cons: Seems like the mid range is really high (like listening to a record player vs CD) Cable is very flimsy feeling, non-braided style. The Mic/Vol Control housing and clip feels cheaply made. (Don't run over it with your chair) Mic mute is a switch that is very low profile (almost need nails to toggle) No swivel at the in and out wires of the vol/mic controler. The wire connection at the headset is not removable (like many other creative headsets) The mic itself is a flex style but with some flexibility to position. The head bands width is not adjustable, so may be tight to others. I have a very small width head 6" from ear to ear, and feels a little tight on me.
Other Thoughts: Sound card may be a major factor. Its an Audigy 2 Platinum that I suspect is finally going bad after 2 motherboard upgrades. Waiting for the sound card I ordered with headset to arrive and will see how much it changes from the upgrade to a Xonar. (What's with the "X"'s these days?) All in all I feel like MSRP was a bit high for the whole package. I'd rather have paid double for truly awesome sound even though I am not an audiophile.

Pros: Deffinitly worth the money. Great sound quality - clean highs.
Cons: I wouldn't mind some more bass, but it works out good.. in proportion. The mic isn't as good as I was told. It's kind of annoying to be honest. It's removable which is all fine and dandy, but I think I'd prefer it to swivel rather than detach.
Other Thoughts: Not a bad product.

Good sound, good microphone

Pros: The sound is very good, the bass is not very strong but good enough for listening to music, videochatting and gaming. The microphone works very well and is detachable so you can use the headset on the go to listen to music.
Cons: Nothing really, the cables is a little short for me.
