Awesome!!
- Pros: I love this controller! As a FPS freak, I can't live without it anymore! I have both the N52 and N52 TE, and both are amazing! Fits your hand great! You never have to lift your hand off the pad once you get your controls mapped correctly. The TE looks much better than the regular edition, but plays the same! A MUST FOR FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS!!!!
- Cons: I wouldn't consider this a CON, but I will list it anyways. THis controller could use just a couple more buttons... I find myself sometimes wishing I had 1 or 2 more at my finger tips. The reason I say that I don't consider this a CON is because I have played with other gamepads with more buttons and it can get a little confusing if there are too many!
- Other Thoughts: YOU HAVE TO BUY THIS!!!
- Pros: There are none. This device has none of the qualities of the N-52.
- Cons: First off when you put your hand on the device the front comes off the ground. That alone is a dealbreaker. But wait there's plenty more. The keyboard has been ruined. It is now about a half inch larger squared (all the way around). You would have thought they would have tried to tighten it up, and maybe add some soft touch. But noooooooo! You now have to depress the keys even further! The keys are also now positioned right next to one another with no gap removing all the tactile feel of the older pads. Also much cheaper built. The thumb bar is inoperable. Yes inoperable. From where my thumb rests naturally on the bar it will not activate. I have to remember to slide my thumb back to make it work. The thumbar should have been moved to directly under the rotary switch. Above the rotary switch is the G (grenade) button. This has been changed to a long throw type that will not engage unless it's completely depressed. And now to my only complaint about the N-52. continued in other thoughts
- Other Thoughts: The rotary switch. They say it's eight way programmable. In reality it never was. Four worked well because the switch was so sensitive that it would change your selection just by removing your thumb. I thought we had complained enough about that to get it fixed on the new model. Wrong. Same unworkable switch but now they added a stupid hat button on top that pushes your thumb farther away from the unit and also removes the natural tactile feel. They added some really neat blue lights (which serve no purpose whatever) and managed to screw that up too. First when you turn the computer off the lights stay on, you have have to manually turn the switch off. Razer engineering software in action. Further, the mode lights on the thumb switch are so disturbingly bright you can use them for a night light. Add to all this the confusing Razer software with one paragraph on how to use it and the 80usd price tag! Turns the 1 rating to a 0 in my book.

Nifty device if you're willing to cope with some minor drawbacks
- Pros: Reasonably comfortable pad, gets out of the way when necessary (for us folks that use computers for things other than gaming).
* I haven't experienced the "tilting-backward" problem I've seen in other reviews - in fact, on my keyboard tray this thing sits nice-flat-solid for a device that weighs next-to-nothing. * The obnoxious blue backlight can be turned off with a single switch on the bottom. * every key is programmable. * tight design (which may be a drawback for thems with bigger hands; mine are only a bit larger-than-average so this is a "pro" for me)
- Cons: The main drawback is the controlling software; Belkin needs to get this upgraded or (if other reviews are reasonably accurate) go back to using an updated software interface from the older model (which I have never used so can't confirm or deny).
* All of the keys on this thing are a bit stiff, especially the D-pad. I can only hope that my beating on them will loosen the springloads a wee bit. * The D-Pad. I don't know whether it needs to be re-positioned or re-thought or just upgraded to a more smoothly operable piece of hardware, but for most game apps it's a foregone kludge. * if you're a die-hard leftie (which I am not) THIS DEVICE IS NOT FOR YOU. Strictly left-hand operable unless you can perform major contortions with your right hand. * the home key nub on key 8 could be a bit bigger; with callouses on my left hand I can't feel it at all and have already super-glued an additional tiny hunk of plastic on it.
- Other Thoughts: I've used many Belkin products over the years and they've always been rather hit-or-miss; usually this type of product is where they score a "miss", but this device is an exception to that general rule.
I think I would have preferred an Ideazon MERC keyboard but I don't like to buy this sort of thing without being able to touch it first and the MERC just aint available in stores where I am, so the Belkin got the tap from me. I'm not disappointed but I think this device is getting both some praise it doesn't merit for and some bad press it doesn't deserve. It is NOT a 5-egg device, but it's also not as bad as 1- or 2-egg. If I could give a 3.5-egg (7 out of 10) it'd be more accurate, but I think it deserves the 4-egg.
Note: running on AMD Athalon 64 dual-core w/4GB mem on WinVista Pro 32bit
almost too good
- Pros: so much power in your fingertips
- Cons: my left alt button got wimpy without much use
- Other Thoughts: the only drawback with this is that some games dont allow you to completely utilize all the power herer. for example, borderlands is in love with the enter button, and theres no option to hotkey it so you have to periodically reach up to your regular keyboard and slap that (or just left-click, but you get the point).
Mega-Uber-Excellent
- Pros: I have use the N52 keyboard since 2004, when it was Belkin-Nostromo, and it is the greatest single piece of gear to make gaming a pleasure. It is very well built and uber easy to use. I am on my second one now, the N52-te, only because I gave my old one to a friend so i could upgrade mine and hers is still working great. I had never played a PC game before and I was using my keyboard and was going nowhere, I was slow and making mistakes on shooting and targeting. That is when I thought I would try the N52 and it made me able to play with the best of the people I played with. It was a real lifesaver, literally, lol.
- Cons: The thumb-wheel is placed where I can't easily use it, but that is because I have large hands. And the lettering on 2 keys wore off them. They were the ones I used the most so it's understandable and it took almost 2 years.
- Other Thoughts: I have recommended the N52 to everyone I have played with and a few bought it and those people were very impressed with it.
