Reliable, a bit noisy
- Pros: Inexpensive, reliable
- Cons: A bit loud. I've done plenty of system builds over the years, so I know how to install these guys. I've even removed and re-seated mine to no avail. They're simply going to be loud.
- Other Thoughts: I have several of these in use for Linux-based liveCD workstations, so the drives get very heavy use. No problems whatsoever other than some minor noise.
Great DVD
- Pros: Works great. No conflict. Very fast and quiet.
- Cons: None
Another great LG drive
- Pros: Quiet, reliable (based on past experience, inexpensive.
- Cons: Included software a bit skimpy for a retail pack.
- Other Thoughts: I'm a big fan of LG optical drives; I've bought loads of them (all from Newegg), and every one has performed flawlessly (I've had minor issues crop in the past, but they have always been resolved by firmware updates).
If I had to come up with a negative, I'd have to say it's the included software pack. The retail LG drives used to come with a whole suite of applications, including an OEM version of Nero, but the only software now included is PowerDVD.
