Cons: The only trick was, you could never burn the discs at full speed, DVD+R DL's worked when I chose the slowest possible speed: 2.4x out of 8x and the same is true when burning DVD's, I had to lower the burning speed significantly, to avoid the CONSTANT flow of coasters.

Other Thoughts: After sitting through and burning my media very slowly, it has given me time to think about why a burner that claims 16x DVD+R DL can only burn at 2.4x. Well, in the little slip of paper (the manual), the brands that LG endorsed for DVD+-R DL are, "Mitsubishi Kagaku Media, Verbatim are recommended." That is on page 2 of the owners manual. I wish I had known that before, I would have bought "tested and supported" media.

Pros: This thing is very quiet, you can't tell by sound if it's burning. It does a very nice job on lightscribe.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Cheap, and works as well as the Litr-On units, but very quiet.

Cons: It failed after a few months of very light usage. Either it opens for no reason and will not close, or it's unresponsive to the open/close button. I'll warranty it as soon as I get around to opening the case and removing it. LG requires a serial number to open a warranty claim, so can't start until I pull it out...

Pros: Fast drive
Works well most of the time, reads most DVD's and copies DVD's with Nero just fine.

Cons: Balks at reading some converted VHS video-to-DVD files, takes some minutes of running before it finally reads the file and plays it.
Samsung SH222AB DVD drive reads same file using same Nero software in seconds.

Other Thoughts: Got a firmware update to TL02 version 8, but did nothing to help file issue.
Product support is decent, but of no help. Tried new cables but same issue. Drive must be out of warranty, no offers of replacement or exchange.
For $22 what should I expect right? Will stick with Samsung...

Pros: It does its jobs and it's nor dead yet!

Pros: Fasat drive - burns dvds and CD's pretty fast

Pretty quiet compare to my last drive(a Sammy)

Cons: Not AHCI compatible. Will only run in IDE mode in BIOS Was hoping a firmware update would fix this but i have the lastest firmware. I need AHCI for a plug and play x-dock on my new case. :G please address this!

Other Thoughts: Please make this AHCI compatible.

Pros: Burns discs quickly.

Cons: Read speed is slower than molasses flowing uphill in Antarctica.

Other Thoughts: Advertises 48x read speed. Doesn't even come close. Bechmarks report that actual read speed is 1 MB/s.

Pros: worked for a while, than started having issues.

Windows vista Business 64bit

MEMORY: 24GB

Cons: LG driver causes system to hang up severly that even after uninstallation I had issues, with several items on my system. you get what you pay for.
lg has a service that checks for updates every time you log in and brings pop ups on your screen which get annoying if not disabeled.
sometimes system whould get locked up if a disk was left in the drive.
also putting a light scribe disk to burn an image on it would cause vista to hang up.

Other Thoughts: dont know about xp or 7 but would not recommend to vista users.

Pros: Smooth.
Quiet.
Fast.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Is what it is, a good little drive to get you along.

Pros: Spins; reads; writes; installs in a snap;

Cons: It is NOISY. It may be unbalanced, but I haven't had any coasters yet so I think it's just terribly loud. I over-clocked my processor and had 4 120mm and 1 200mm fan running at full speed, and this drive was much louder than all that racket even.
