Good buy but loud

Pros: Cheap price. Sata is good. Fast speeds. Works with my Gigabyte mobo and Win 7 pro x64 just fine. Plus samsung ha always been good to me for monitors, tv's, and other electronics.

Cons: When its running its loud.

Other Thoughts: Im happy with this purchase. Even though its loud when in use. Who really uses their optical THAT much though? Not me anyway. And most are loud anyway, this one is just louder. Although I do have a cheap $30 Rosewill case so that doesn't help with sound control either. I did however recently install some thermaltake foam for $9 on Newegg and that seems to have helped some for the overall quietness of the case and what I hear from the optical.

Pros: Cheap, It's a Samsung (Always had a good experience when it comes to them) and it is not overly loud.

Cons: CRC Fail time and time again.

Pros: -Runs quiet.

Cons: -Had to update firmware in order for it to play DVD movies.
-Had to manually set region code in order to play DVD movies.

Other Thoughts: Drive itself is fine, it's just too bad you have to update the firmware and manually set the region coding just to play movies. Read data discs just fine from the get-go (used it to install Windows), but EVERYTHING should work from the start.
Not recommended if you want to just plug it in & have everything work right off the bat.
