Pros: Very portable. You only need the unit and its double-ended USB cable. It's not super quiet, but it's by no means loud.
Cons: No audio port.
Other Thoughts: Great value for the price.

Rating: 3/5Noisy DVD Burner
Pros: Reliable and very portable DVD burner...
Cons: Very noisy just reading CD/DVD's. Noise goes after a bit when reading...
Other Thoughts: Good option if you don't mind the noise.

Rating: 5/5Perfect for Netbook
Pros: Bought this for use with my wife's HP netbook. She's used it mostly to rip and burn music CDs. No complaints - it's fast, quiet, and reliable. Nice compact size, just barely bigger than a CD. Very light too, but it doesn't feel cheap.
Cons: None.
Other Thoughts: Make sure you have two USB ports that are pretty close to each other so you can plug in both the main connector and the auxiliary power connector.
Ripping music CD's isn't too bad on battery life, but you'll definitely want to be plugged in if burning more than a disc or two.

Rating: 5/5Works great, and no external AC adapter
Pros: This is basically just a laptop DVD drive placed in an external housing, but I love it because it has only one single connector. There is no need to drag along an external adapter for power. Note that the cord actually connects to TWO USB ports (there are two connectors in the cord), probably because there is not enough power from a single port. I haven't burned any DVDs, but watching (and legally ripping) movies worked great.
Cons: None

Rating: 4/5No problem with burning
Pros: Please read my previous review titled "One USB port only".
- quiet - inexpensive - metal rails in the tray - it is one USB port only for an ACER ASPIRE ONE AO532h netbook
Cons: - big USB plug especially the signal one(2 wires) - the case can be stronger (one finger placed on the center bends the top temporarily) - strange packaging
Other Thoughts: I finally burned some disks, both CD's and DVD's; they seem fine. This is my 2nd burner of this style. The first one is made by "A8U8" which I paid $10.00 more. I found this one is just as good in every way. The foams inside protects the drive itself well, but the cut in a piece of the foam for the cable, the manual and the disk allows empty space inside the box. The retailer was not careful enough in handling the box, and crumbled the box quite a bit on that side. I was very reluctant to get it first; however, between a crumbled box and a returned box I took a chance with the crumbled. I am glad everything is fine although I did not test or use the disk. I am using an old copy of Nero which is very stable, not to say that the Nero 9.0 came with the drive is not since I have not tested it. All in all, a well recommended slim external burner for all netbook owners! I have given an extra egg from my last review simply because the burn performance is very satisfactory.

Rating: 3/5One USB port only
Pros: for an ACER ASPIRE ONE, model AO532h netbook, one and only one USB port is needed
Cons: the plug does not go into the burner smoothly and easily
Other Thoughts: So far reading CD's and DVD's is fine. BIOS and WIN7 starter recognize it right away. I tried to stay neutral in its rating by giving it 3 eggs, because I have not tested writing CD's or DVD's. I will submit another review when I do.
Since this type of external dvd burner is mainly for netbooks, I wish netbook users can tell us what netbook this burner is intended for; furthermore, 1 or 2 USB ports are needed. This is the only criteria I use when shopping for this type of burner since USB ports are at a premium for netbooks.

Rating: 5/5Works great with Mac
Pros: Works great with my Mac Mini - I am running snow leopard on a first gen core duo mac mini that never came with a superdrive. I have had no issues.
Cons: Wish I would have bought white to match the mac... - it is also tough when you don't have two usb ports adjacent to each other. I had to use a USB bus to get it to work on my dad's Mac Book pro.
Other Thoughts: wish it didn't use two USB ports, but I am glad that I don't have to lug around a power supply. I also have a gateway netbook that is running windows 7 home and it works great with that also.

Rating: 4/5Love it
Pros: It couldn't have been easier to use, plug it in and that’s all. It's light and compact, but seems to be very rugged.
Cons: I haven’t come across anything I dislike about this product.

Rating: 4/5Nice...
Pros: very slim, light weight, decent quiet operation, no separate power cord (USB powered), comes with Nero essential software
Cons: have to carry separately, it may be a plus point for some who think that an optical drive is not necessary these days.
Other Thoughts: If you need ultra portability of your netbook or notebook, but still need an optical drive, then its worth buying.
