Works great in a Micron Transport GX3
- Pros: Detected in both Windows XP Pro and RedHat Feroda Core 3 Linux. Works perfectly under both.
- Cons: None so far.
- Other Thoughts: Had to modify the faceplate in order to get it to fit in the GX3 since the faceplates weren't swappable. Also had to solder two pins together to get it to show up as master instead of slave.
Overall Good Product.
- Pros: Haven't had any problems with this drive whatsoever. It allows overspeeding on DVD+R DL media (rated at 2.4x i burned at 4x)
- Cons: My only issue with this drive is audio ripping. One of the reviewers before me stated how in his opinion it was fast, ripping a disc in 10 minutes. That agrees with my expirience with the drive, only that is not only not fast, that is unacceptabelly slow. I don't know
if that's a general issue with slimline drives, but any other drive i had would rip a cd in maybe 3 minutes. Even the first cd burner i ever bought (4xCD-R) would do it faster than 10 minutes.
- Other Thoughts: Would somebody please enlighten me.
Is it normal for these drives to be this slow in audio ripping?
Works Great in my Inspiron 8600
- Pros: Easy setup. Works great.
- Cons: different color than the laptop.
- Other Thoughts: I was worried at first about installing the drive, but it was very easy.

Anti-dust seal MultiRead Compliant Vertical operation possible The ND-6650 takes advantage of NEC’s “high resolution writing strategy” and of an improved version of NEC’s “Active Optimized Power Control” (Active OPC). The “high resolution writing strategy” uses advanced laser modulation to enhance the accuracy of the written data. Active OPC dynamically monitors writing power and reflection of the media in use, calculating the optimum laser power and adjusting it in real-time. Not only the media type itself is written in the optimum way – but even local anomaly on the used media can be handled in the optimum way by NEC technology. Besides, NEC implemented its own developed buffer under run error prevention technology.
