Rebadged Teac

Pros: This is a better writer than most drives that come in store bought PCs.

Cons: It IS NOT a Plextor. It is a Teac drive with a Panasonic chipset. Plextor bought these drives and slapped their name on the front and put their own version of the firmware in it (rebadged). It reads/writes considderably poor for a drive with the quality "Plextor" brand name. Stay away if you are looking for a good Plextor.

Other Thoughts: The best "true" Plextors are the 716A and the 760A. Both the 716 and 760 will produce burns of great quality and its highly advised you check these two drives out if you want a Plex.

Perfect Drive for the Price!

Pros: First of all this is a Plextor Drive: The best brand of optical drive in the market. This is my second Plextor Drive I have and still saying the same: excellence in optical Drives. Is perfect to burn DVD's, Rip Music at excellent quality. I burn DVD's and cd's constantly and this drive can handle even more.

Cons: A little noisy Optical Drive, but nothing I can't handle.

Other Thoughts: Thanks Plextor for build quality products like this, and thanks to NewEgg for the low price.

Pros: Name. Two faceplates.

Cons: Not much to say except on a P4 2.8ghz machine with 1g of ram it takes 45-50 min. to burn a 3gig DVD. Also, will only burn DVD's at 4x even though it says 16x. Everything I try at 8x or 16x fails. I have always bought Plextor, but this one does not meet up to their standards. Definately not worth the price.
