Achieve desktop functionality with the affordable Canon imageCLASS MF4370dn network laser multifunction printer. Get large-office network capabilities in a compact package through Ethernet connectivity. A 35-sheet automatic document feeder streamlines workflow as do the 23 pages-per-minute output and 9-second first-copy speed.
Print laser-crisp, black-and-white, high-resolution documents at up to 1200 x 600 dpi. Scan images in 24-bit color at resolutions reaching 9600 dpi and enlarge or reduce images during copying from 50 to 200%. Fax from the scanner or from your PC at high speeds to reduce your phone bill and a 256-page memory means that you'll never miss an important fax if you run out of consumables.
The Canon single-cartridge system ensures that your thousandth print-out is as good as your first you won't have to worry about spilling toner while the 7500-page monthly duty cycle ensures that this MFC will work as hard as you do.
Pros: Everything you want to do, it's here. Fast printing. Scanning from the glass or from the ADF. Auto-duplexing. Network connectivity. Cartridge availability.
Cons: Have this printer connected USB and sitting next to your PC for scanning. It's a little cumbersome if it sits across the room. Slow scanning through network connection.
Other Thoughts: I have been in PCs and networking for over 25 years and did months of research before we purchased this printer for my girlfriend at gradschool. If not for the slow scanning over the network connection, I would have given it a 5-egg.
It sits next to a Canon Pixma MP610 printer (color inkjet). She uses the 4370dn for all scanning since it has the ADF and is much faster (connected USB) than the MP610. She also prints all black and white through the 4370dn for quality and cheaper cost per page compared to the inkjet.
There are tons of places to buy cartridges, both OEM and off-brand. We have chosen to go off-brand for this printer (2 cartridges for half the price of 1 OEM).
As for the tray loading issues mentioned in other reviews, it took her about 4 seconds to get used to how the trays load.
Overall, this is the best printer I found with the features at the price point we wanted to pay.

Pros: fast print, scan or a combination. look good. a space to put a chunk of paper in. Most advertise feature is true.
Cons: It took me a while to figure out what is TWAIN complaint application is. I expected it to be install with everything. In the end I used picasa (google) to scan from a network.
2nd problem is that it rarely freeze while its in sleep mode; I had to unplug the power and plug it back again to get it back to normal. bad printer, bad (humor).
Other Thoughts: Just because I elaborate more on the cons doesn't mean it's a bad printer. I gave it a four star. I moved from an inkjet that only print to this and i'm glad I did.

Pros: Relatively easy to set up, very customizable (has IPv6 support - but I did not test this). Bang for the buck is incredible here. The Web user interface is one of the best I have encountered.
Cons: Network scanning is limited to 300 dpi and is rather slow. Oh well.
Other Thoughts: Don't turn off SNMP. The set up utilities require it.

This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: *all the stuff that are listed in the spec sheet.
*possible to get inexpensive toner
Cons: same as what every one is complaining... network scanning I bought this printer for home office over the network. canon really need to work on the driver for scanning over the network. the way it is implemented, it is almost like it pushing bits through phone line. single page takes > 5 min to transmit.
they should have at least a usb/memory slot for scanning to usb/memory to overcome the slow network scanning.
Other Thoughts: I have no experience with other brands of AIO. I am not sure how well other brand drivers are implemented. canon really need to rework the scanner drivers -- or pray M$ come out with a compatible one. I know canon won't since they have never done anything about their products post release. They just want you to buy the next version.
I also would like the scanner to work with banking software for depositing checks and what not.
but inexpensive duplex printer otherwise.
