Space. Like money, it's one of those things you never really have enough of. You need a printer, a fax machine, a copier, and a scanner, and they all take up space.
But that doesn't have to be true. Epson offers a series of multifunction printers like this one that can do it all without taking up much more space than a traditional printer. Inkjet printing gives you high-quality printouts, but also crisp copies that don't have the problems thermal photocopiers sometimes have. The scanner lets you record your documents, and the fax portion even lets you send facsimiles of those documents, all in one compact unit.
You can even hook it up to your wired or wireless LAN for printer sharing that doesn't require your computer to be on all the time. Now, you know what you need much better than we can, but it costs less than four devices, uses less energy and space than four devices; this might be just what you need.
Pros: For the mac users do not be scared I set this up on a network with two MACBOOKS. One using tiger and the other using leopard. Also on the same network is a windows xp sp3 machine a VISTA 64 bit and a Vista 32 Bit. All of the machines work without an issue. However on the network file transfers are slow.
I also set one up straight into an IMAC with leopard and have had no issues with anything at all. So some folks just do not know what they are doing sometimes.
Print quality is good but not as good as the artisan series. The ink in this seems like it will last a while but who knows.
Cons: Nothing so far well except that if one cartridge runs out you can no longer print or fax or use the memory card slots. This has always been an issue with epson though.
Other Thoughts: Nothing good machine

Excellent Printer especially for the price.

Pros: Quick to setup on Win2k3 laptop, XP desktop, and Mac powerbook with the CD. All three work perfect. Very fast print speeds. Wireless reach is excellent. Easy ink changes.
Cons: Run out of any ink and you're done in any color including black... always have a spare.
Other Thoughts: I very rarely write reviews, but this is such a good printer for the price I had to... Tried third party ink and works no problem at half the cost.

Pros: Good Prints, two-sided printing, shortcuts so different jobs are only one click instead of screen after screen. Card Reader and USB port allow it to be used like a NAS but only Vista or higher can't get it to function with XP machines on same network.
Cons: Would be good if the display were a little more user friendly, ie, asks what you want to do, Scan. for what, email, and it would make a jpg with appropriate compression. or scan document would pick appropiate resolution and apply OCR to save a Text document or *.docx
Also wish it had Automatic Duplexing instead of Manual. Which you can do on any Printer so its not really that special. The way it prompts and visually tells you how to reinsert paper does help.

Sneaky printer

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: 1 month to 1 year
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Wireless...wireless. Yeah, it's wireless.
Cons: It doesn't deliver the prints to me in the lazy boy? I guess it is a bit loud putting the paper through.
Other Thoughts: A step up in buttons from the Workforce 500 (also have one of thoes for guest room computer) handy to have them run the same ink. Used the wireless to hide it in a closet. Niece and nephew can't mess with it anymore. Just fun to have a sneaky printer.

Great Printer

Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: less than 1 day
This user purchased this item from Newegg
Pros: Print speed is incredibly fast. The print quality is also top-notch. I used to think that it's always a compromise between speed and quality, but this printer gives you both. The exterior casing and user interface are also very well designed.
Cons: It is a bit loud, but I don't mind it at all.
Other Thoughts: Setup was simple, and I got the wireless connection established in less than half an hour.
